Today the Lenox Chamber executive board voted to cancel Old Fashioned Fun Night (OFFN) for 2020. We know this event is enjoyed by many and we will miss having it this year.

As of right now, the Rodeo (put on by the Lenox Stock and Saddle Club) and the Parade (Organized by the Lenox Sorority) are still happening. More details regarding those will be released in the days to come. The Lenox Chamber does not make decisions in regards to those events.

Everyone stay safe and we will see you at OFFN 2021!

We found this dog running loose today. If this is your dog, please contact City Hall at 641-333-2228.

We are disheartened to report that the decision was made to keep our pool closed for the summer. We know this decision is disappointing as our pool serves as a summer of fun for many kids. We did not take this decision lightly. Our main concern and priority is the safety and health of our lifeguards and our citizens attending the pool.
We hope to make some necessary updates to the pool and bathhouse to make it even better for next year. If you have already paid for a pass, it will be valid for next year or you can request a refund.
Thank you for understanding and we cannot wait to see you next year!

From Taylor County Public Health:
We’ve learned of another COVID-19 testing opportunity in our region! Clarinda Regional Health Center in Clarinda has been named a Test Iowa drive-thru testing site starting today, June 3rd. The Test Iowa initiative is open to any Iowan that feels they need to be tested.
To schedule an appointment, visit TestIowa.com and complete an assessment. After the assessment, it will determine if you need to be tested and ask what site you choose. At this point you need to indicate that you want to be tested at a clinic. You will then have the option to select Clarinda Regional as your clinic choice. You will then receive a unique ID and QR Code and be able to schedule an appointment through the clinic.
Currently, CRHC's site will be open today from 3-5 p.m., Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. with more dates and times possible based on demand.
Those getting tested are asked to exit off the Highway 2 bypass onto West Glenn Miller Drive, turn east on West Laperla Drive and then turn south onto Essie Davison Drive and wait to be received by a CRHC team member. Following testing, patients are asked to exit onto Highway 71.

There will not be any additional cleaning or disinfecting at our park, shelter houses or restrooms so you can attend at your own risk. We ask everyone to please social distance and no more than groups of 10. We really want to keep our park open for the kids so we need everyone to be responsible.

Our pool normally opens on Memorial Weekend, but that will not happen this year. We still do not have a date on when we will open the pool. The Governor made a proclamation today that states swimming pools may open for lap swimming and to conduct swimming lessons. The City of Lenox Park Board will meet to make a recommendation to the City Council on how to proceed. Once this is decided, we will be sure to let all of you know. Thank you for your patience and we are still hopeful that we will open our pool at some point this summer.
Here is from the Governor's Proclamation:
C. Swimming pools: A swimming pool, as defined in Iowa Code § 135I.1 may reopen for the limited purpose of lap swimming and conducting swimming lessons, but only to the extent that the establishment operating the pool takes reasonable measures under the circumstances of each establishment to ensure social distancing of employees and patrons, increased hygiene practices, and other public health measures to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 consistent with Guidance issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Except for these limited purposes, all swimming pools and spas, wading pools, water slides, wave pools, spray pads, and bath houses, as defined in Iowa Code § 135I.1, shall continue to be closed.

Now that it is FINALLY mowing season, we want to remind everyone of a couple of rules.
The allowable maximum height of grass shall be 8 inches in residential, business and industrial zoned areas. It is the responsibility of the property owner to ensure their property is maintained properly. If the owner does not, the city will send a notice giving you 48 hours to cut the grass or the city will perform the work and assess the fees to the property owners. There is a $100 surcharge and then $100/hour for the city to perform the work.
Also, DO NOT blow your grass clippings into the street. This can/will result in a fine. The placement of grass clippings on roadways is not only a safety hazard, especially for those on motorcycles and bicycles but it is also an unwanted problem in storm water management.
Thank you for your cooperation! Happy mowing season!

Sounds like the white stuff is coming in Thursday! Please remember our snow ordinance will be in effect. All vehicles are to be removed from city streets until the snow has stopped and the streets have been cleared. Thank You for your cooperation.

A late season snow storm is set to affect southern Iowa starting on Thursday. Snow is expected to move into southwest Iowa around daybreak and then spread north and east through the day. Moderate to occasionally heavy snow is forecast at times by Thursday afternoon and into the evening across southern Iowa. Brisk east to northeast winds are also expected which will produce some drifting and blowing snow. If traveling across the southern half of Iowa on Thursday into Thursday night, be prepared for hazardous driving conditions. Additional information can be found at www.weather.gov/dmx

Are you tired of being in the house and want something to do that is safe for you and your family? Lets scoop the loop in Lenox! From 7-8 PM, drive around the " Loop" with your family and wave at your friends as you see them drive by.

"The Loop"
Start at the community center and follow Locust Street to Van Buren Street. Then drive down Van Buren and turn onto Main Street. Follow Main Street until Dallas Street and complete the loop at Locust Street. Feel free to start at any point in the loop!

This is a very laid back event focused to bring our community together while practicing social distancing. Please follow these guidelines and refrain from gathering. Follow all of the traffic laws and be safe!

Our golf course and Clubhouse are open! Per guidelines established by Governor Reynolds and the CDC, you are only able to order beer to go from the Clubhouse at this time. We ask that everyone please follow the social distancing guidelines while golfing so we are able to keep it open to the public. Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time.

04/02/2020

With the nice weather we have been experiencing, it is important to remember the guidelines established from the CDC, Governor Reynolds and the IDPH on social distancing. Because of these guidelines, the playground equipment at the park is CLOSED as we have no way of properly cleaning the equipment. This will include ALL playground equipment such as swings, teeter totters, etc. The park itself will remain open but we are relying on everyone to abide by the social distancing standards.
We are all in this together and we appreciate your cooperation!

Our annual City Wide Cleanup event that was scheduled for April 26th-May 4th has been postponed. We will update everyone on a new date as soon as we can. Again, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
