This week hydrant testing/maintenance will begin in the Leoma, Center Point, and Southeast districts. You may experience brief periods of lower pressure than normal. This hydrant testing is a cooperative effort between the fire departments and Leoma Utilities using a third party company. This testing will help us ensure hydrant operability, identify hydrants that need additional maintenance, and satisfy ISO requirements for testing.

“Time changes all things”-Heraclitus

We are no longer selling fireworks.

After many, many years of selling fireworks the time has come to stop. Thanks to the Lawrence County Commission’s increased funding to Lawrence County Fire and Rescue over the last few years, we no longer need to saddle our volunteers with the burden of funding the department. We are very appreciative of the support from the community and those from outside the community who traveled to support us.

There will be a fireworks stand located across the highway from the department. We will share their information when it becomes available.

Since October we have 11 new members in the department. Our promise to them and their families is to be as respectful of their time as possible. This means no fundraising, meaningful training, and flexibility with meetings. Participation and call response have been phenomenal. I can’t brag on our team enough.

We always have room for more volunteers. If you’d like to join please message us. As always we are thankful for the support from our community.

For the month of May we were dispatched to 17 calls for service including 3 motor vehicle accidents and 8 medical assists. Two of members finished their 64 hour class and live burn. Two more have started EMT classes.

Update: Road is open. Use caution as LUS is on scene restoring power.

Old Jackson Hwy is currently blocked by 2 trees, one north of the railroad which has power lines down and one south between Glendale and Busby. Once the utility crews make the scene safe we will work on opening up the road. Thank you.

Rain or shine, day or night….. One call gets it all.

We are thankful for the amazing volunteers that are the heart of our organization.

For April we responded to 26 calls for service including 3 structure fires, 7 vehicle accidents, and 5 medical calls.

Today, May 2, we’ve responded to a motor vehicle accident, lawn mower fire, and assisted with a woods fire.
