Re: Walkout at the High School Today

This post is not about what the kids did or even the politics. I have read some horrifying and vitriolic posts online that have been directed at teachers at the HS and feel the need to comment. The teachers DID NOT take part in the protest. They DID NOT encourage the students to protest. In fact, from what I heard it is the exact opposite. These teachers are professionals and stayed in the classroom and continued to teach. Just like they do every single day for our kids. Please know the facts before you pass judgement and give them the respect that they have earned.

I wanted to share an update on our ongoing union negotiations. We have reached an agreement with the Teamsters, and the union has confirmed there will be no job actions at this time and we will be operating as usual on December 1st.

I have never seen a candidate work as hard as Eric Mabie - Candidate for Leominster City Council . I believe the strength of our team comes from our friendships with one another. Rarely do all four of us agree on any topic and that is a good thing. It's our ability to listen to one another and craft decisions based on that feedback for the betterment of our city that makes this team strong.

Election day is coming up (Tuesday November 4th!) I would like to take a moment to recognize and endorse the other members of the team. I feel incredibly lucky to serve together with Josh Bowdridge for School Committee Ward 4 Leominster Salvatore A. Perla Jr, School Committee At-Large Member and Jennifer Alker, Ward 1 School Committee Member all of whom I consider family. I would also like to endorse Eric Mabie - Candidate for Leominster City Council and Lisa Contreras Candidate for Leominster City Councilor Ward 1 who have supported the Kids First team since day one and will both do an incredible job. Eric and Lisa truly love this city of Leominster and will always do what's best for it!
