The weather forecast for this afternoon of Thursday 27 August shows the possibility (currently about 45%) of rainfall and thunderstorms. The area affected by this storm is to the west of us, but, changing winds may bring this stormy weather closer.
In addition, we may experience strong winds this evening.
This weather may be affected by the prediction of a lunar eclipse later tonight.
In the mindset of “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” ensure to take precautions for the rain. In the evening changing winds may cause damage to trees and the lunar eclipse may decrease visibility outside, including on roadways

A quick note with regard to the incoming summer rainstorms forecast for this afternoon and evening on Tuesday, 28 July 2026:

According to the nation-wide map at the National Weather Service, Worcester County, including Leominster, are subject to a Flood Watch through tomorrow. One of the reasons for this precaution is the fact that the ground has been so dry and hot due to the hot and humid weather in the month of July. Rainfall on dry soil conditions does not absorb into the ground quickly, with the resulting effect that rainfall may largely run off dry, caked dirt, and quickly pool in low places. Recommend to make a quick check around your home or business and verify that gutters and gutter downspouts are flowing rain water away from your building, and, if possible, in the overall direction of street storm drains.
Be cautious driving at night or low-visibility conditions for deep puddles in roadways. Be aware of lightning and the dangers associated with it. The rainfall is expected to be heavy at times and may last into tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.
