Butler County Fire District #9 would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the City of Leon, our local churches, Vintage Bank, and the Leon Police Department for organizing such a fantastic Party at the Park to wrap up Leon Community VBS.

We truly appreciate being invited to be a part of this special event. It was an honor to spend the evening with so many wonderful families, meet members of our community, and see the smiles on the kids’ faces as they explored the fire truck and enjoyed all the activities.

🏆 1st Annual BCFD #9 Co-Ed Softball Tournament Champions & Runner-Up! 🥎

What an incredible day of softball!

Congratulations to our 1st Place Champions Lizzo Elite and 2nd Place Runners-Up Parking Lot Squad! Both teams played outstanding all day, and the championship game couldn’t have had a more exciting finish. A walk-off home run to end the tournament was the perfect way to cap off an amazing day of competition!

On behalf of Butler County Fire District #9, we want to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who made this tournament possible:
❤️ All of the teams who came out and competed.
❤️ Our sponsors for their generous support.
❤️ Our volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the day.
❤️ The umpires, scorekeepers, and everyone behind the scenes.
❤️ Every fan who came out to cheer on the teams and support our department.

This tournament was one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and the support from our community means more than you know. We couldn’t have asked for a better first tournament, and we’re already looking forward to making next year’s event even bigger and better!

Congratulations again to all of our teams, and thank you for helping make the 1st Annual BCFD #9 Co-Ed Softball Tournament a tremendous success!

Today, Butler County Fire District #9 recognizes and thanks Mark Huckabee for his dedicated service to our department and community.

Mark joined BCFD #9 in 1995 and has spent more than 30 years serving the citizens of our district as a volunteer firefighter and an Advanced EMT. Through countless emergency calls, trainings, community events, and hours away from his family, Mark has demonstrated what it means to be committed to serving others.

Volunteer firefighters are the backbone of many rural communities, and people like Mark have helped shape and strengthen our department for generations. His dedication, experience, and willingness to answer the call whenever needed have made a lasting impact on BCFD #9 and the residents we serve.

As Mark retires from active service, we extend our deepest gratitude for his years of sacrifice, commitment, and service. Thank you for everything you have done for this department and community.

Please join us in congratulating Mark Huckabee on his retirement and thanking him for over three decades of service to Butler County Fire District #9.

🚒 Monday night was all about hands-on extrication training at Butler County Fire District #9.

Our members spent the evening sharpening their skills, practicing vehicle stabilization, tool operations, patient access, and teamwork in realistic rescue scenarios. Training like this helps ensure we are prepared when seconds matter most.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and put in the work, as well as those who helped provide vehicles and equipment for the training. We are proud of the dedication our volunteers continue to show for our community. 💪🔥

These trainings are critical for keeping our firefighters safe, confident, and ready to respond whenever the call comes in.

Today was a great reminder of what community is all about. 🚒🌾

Our BCFD #9 Junior Firefighters spent the day helping local farmer Miles Wilhite with farm work, and in return, he went above and beyond for our juniors.

Not only did he treat the crew to lunch, but he also offered to pay for the custom Junior Firefighter t-shirts they’ve been working hard toward earning — complete with our department number on them. ❤️

These young men and women continue to step up, work hard, and represent our department and community well. We are incredibly proud of them and thankful for community members like Miles who support and encourage the next generation of firefighters.

Thank you, Miles, for your generosity, kindness, and support of our youth and department.
