πŸš’ Monday night was all about hands-on extrication training at Butler County Fire District #9.

Our members spent the evening sharpening their skills, practicing vehicle stabilization, tool operations, patient access, and teamwork in realistic rescue scenarios. Training like this helps ensure we are prepared when seconds matter most.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and put in the work, as well as those who helped provide vehicles and equipment for the training. We are proud of the dedication our volunteers continue to show for our community. πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

These trainings are critical for keeping our firefighters safe, confident, and ready to respond whenever the call comes in.

Today was a great reminder of what community is all about. πŸš’πŸŒΎ

Our BCFD #9 Junior Firefighters spent the day helping local farmer Miles Wilhite with farm work, and in return, he went above and beyond for our juniors.

Not only did he treat the crew to lunch, but he also offered to pay for the custom Junior Firefighter t-shirts they’ve been working hard toward earning β€” complete with our department number on them. ❀️

These young men and women continue to step up, work hard, and represent our department and community well. We are incredibly proud of them and thankful for community members like Miles who support and encourage the next generation of firefighters.

Thank you, Miles, for your generosity, kindness, and support of our youth and department.

Have you ever contemplated what would happen if local volunteers didn't step in to serve in our department?
This is National Volunteer week. Fighting fire is just one of the services we provide. Responding to medical emergencies, Rescue situations, Hazardous Material responses, and transportation accidents (254 and the KTA run thru our district) are all provided. Public service calls for questions, smoke and CO alarms are also thrown in. All those situations require frequent training and maintenance of our apparatus and equipment as well.
Behind the scenes, all required reporting for NERUS, ISO, NFPA, etc. are completed by volunteers. Inspections, preplans, occupancy certificates, public education presentations, and board meetings are all done by volunteers. Our families also become as involved as firefighters through the Towanda Fire Rescue Auxiliary in fund raising efforts and providing food and water after big fire battles.

We honor and thank all those who serve the citizens of our fire district as volunteers!!

How can you support your volunteers?
