Hello, AC season. Before you cool down, make sure your air conditioner is set up safely. Plug window air conditioners directly into a wall outlet.

Many manufacturers do not allow extension cords. If they are allowed, use the proper type and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Drive safely on rural roads, especially in the spring and summer months when farm vehicles are common on these roadways.

Slow down and avoid distractions.

If you must pass a slow-moving vehicle, pass safely in a passing zone, and only when the road is clearly visible and free of oncoming traffic.

Never drive impaired and always buckle up for a safe drive!

The spring fire season ends today. Daylight burning is permitted, but the risk remains. Keep a 10-foot safety strip perimeter clear. Keep water nearby. Stay safe. 🌅✔️

Turn Around Don't Drown, or TADD for short, is a NOAA National Weather Service campaign used to educate people about the hazards of driving a vehicle or walking through flood waters. Too many people die due to misjudging the power of moving water or their ability to navigate flooded areas.

People often underestimate the power of flowing water. A mere 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock an adult off their feet. Most vehicles begin to lose contact with the road in six inches of water. They can be swept away in 12-18 inches of flowing water. This includes pickups and SUVs. When approaching a flooded roadway remember, Turn Around Don’t Drown!!!

Warm summer nights are perfect for roasting marshmallows, sharing spooky ghost stories and reminiscing with loved ones—but a fun night around the fire can quickly become dangerous without proper safety protocols.

🔥 Make sure your fire pit is in an open area away from trees, buildings and power lines.
🔥 Keep a shovel and water close. In an emergency, use the water to quench the fire and the shovel to smother the flames with dirt.
🔥 Never leave a fire unattended. Pour water over live embers and turn the logs to make sure all sides of the wood have stopped burning.
