The risk for dangerous heat continues through much of this week, with heat index values rising into the 100s Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Daily chances of showers and storms also remain possible during the afternoon and evenings this week.

A heat advisory will go into effect this afternoon starting at 1 PM until 8 PM Wednesday evening. Heat index values up to are 103 expected. The high temperatures paired with oppressive humidity may cause heat-related illness. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Make sure your home has working smoke alarms on every level, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas. Well placed and properly working alarms can make all the difference in the event of a fire!
