Last week, we recognized the calm voices behind the chaos โ€” our dispatchers.

During emergencies, they are the first point of contact. They gather critical information, provide life-saving instructions, and ensure officers, firefighters, and EMS get where they need to go safely and quickly. While they may not always be seen, their impact is felt in every call for help.

Your professionalism, dedication, and ability to stay composed under pressure do not go unnoticed. You are a vital part of the team and the backbone of public safety.

Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your commitment to our community.

April is Autism Awareness month. The Leonia PBA 381 proudly stands in support of Autism Awareness and acceptance within our community. We recognize that individuals on the autism spectrum bring unique strengths, perspectives, and value to the world around us.

As law enforcement officers, we are committed to fostering understanding, patience, and compassion in every interaction. We strive to build trust with all members of our community, including those with autism and their families, by promoting awareness, education, and inclusivity.

Blizzard conditions are expected in our area, bringing heavy snowfall, strong winds, and near-zero visibility. Travel will become extremely dangerous.

We strongly urge all residents to stay off the roads and remain at home unless it is absolutely necessary to travel. Snow-covered and icy roadways, combined with whiteout conditions, significantly increase the risk of accidents and can quickly leave motorists stranded.

Staying home not only protects you and your family, but also allows plow crews and emergency personnel to respond more effectively.

If you must travel, use extreme caution, reduce your speed, and ensure your vehicle is properly equipped for winter weather.

Please stay home, stay safe, and allow crews to continue working to restore safe conditions. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿšง๐Ÿš“๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš‘

02/21/2026

A Blizzard Warning is in effect from 1PM Sunday until 6PM Monday with heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches are possible with wind gusting as high as 50mph.

From the National Weather Service: โ€œWhiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life threatening. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult to impossible.โ€

Downed power lines can be extremely dangerous and should always be considered โ€œliveโ€. To report hazards and other dangerous conditions, call 9-1-1. To report a power outage, call PSE&G at 800-436-7734,

To assist the Department of Public Works and their snow plowing operations, please remove all cars from the public roads. If you must park in the street, please follow all parking regulations including the alternate side of the street parking ordinance. For streets covered under the snow emergency ordinance (B.O. 194-9), all cars must be removed from the street to avoid being summonsed and towed.

Please plan ahead and move cars now before the snow falls. Municipal parking lots at Elm Place, Beechwood Place and the Public Library may be used during the storm.

The Ramadan Ceremony scheduled for Sunday at 4:30pm in the Leonia Senior Center has been postponed. More information will be sent out when it is rescheduled.

The Leonia Volunteer Fire Department is asking for your assistance during the storm. Please help clear snow from fire hydrants if possible. This will save valuable time in the event of an emergency.

We will send out additional Nixle messages with updates throughout the storm. Please help us with sharing this message and encourage friends and neighbors to sign up for Nixle. Instructions for Nixle Alerts can be found on the Borough's website. You can also sign up for Nixle mobile alerts by texting "07605" to "888777".

Today, we mourn alongside our brothers and sisters at Englewood Cliffs PBA Members as they grieve the loss of one of their own.

While the patch may be different, the badge and the bond we share in this profession are the same. The loss of a police officer is felt far beyond the borders of one town, it is felt across our entire law enforcement family.

We honor a life dedicated to service, courage, and commitment to protecting others. Every shift worked, every call answered, and every sacrifice made will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the officerโ€™s Keith Wickers family, loved ones, and the entire Englewood Cliffs Police Department during this incredibly difficult time. Please know that you do not stand alone. We stand with you today and always.

Rest in Peace. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค
