𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗜𝗧 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧: Two Leonia detectives caught a 21-year-old New York City man ma********ng behind Borough Hall in the middle of the afternoon, Police Chief Scott Tamagny said.

Lucas A. Polonia-Montalvo was taken into custody and charged with lewdness after Detective Brandon McNeil and Detective Sgt. Ray Forsdahl, responding to a call, found him around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday (July 7th), the chief said.

He was 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘭𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘰, h his ge****ls “exposed to public view,” the chief said.

Polonia-Montalvo was issued a summons to answer a lewdness charge in Leonia Municipal Court on July 24th, he said.

𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗜𝗧 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧: An Englewood man used credit cards stolen from a vehicle parked at a Leonia apartment complex to make purchases at multiple stores in Paramus’s Garden State Plaza, authorities said.

Detective Brandon McNeil tied the purchases to the cards, which were snatched during an overnight vehicle burglary at the Lakeview Apartments on June 1st, Leonia Police Chief Scott Tamagny said.

Video that the detective obtained from mall security showed Jalen H. Sisco, 23, at various stores, Tamagny said.

McNeil secured an arrest warrant last Wednesday (July 1st), the chief said.

On Friday, McNeil, Detective Sgt. Ray Forsdahl, Officer Javier Urena and colleagues from Englewood seized Sisco without incident at his Lake Street home.

Leonia and Paramus variously charged him with crimes involving credit card theft and fraudulent use.

Sisco, who’s listed in criminal records as a U.S.-born American citizen, had a prior burglary-related arrest in Englewood in December 2023.

This time, he spent two nights in Bergen County’s jail before a Superior Court judge in Hackensack released him pending trial on Sunday.

A huge thank you to our school crossing guards for keeping our students safe this year. The crossing guards work in all weather conditions and deal with extreme traffic congestion, but they show up everyday to keep our school community safe. Thank you!

Congratulations to all of Leonia's recent graduates, especially Leonia Middle School's 5th grade class that completed the LEAD program (Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence). 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗜𝗧 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧: A stranger from Brooklyn walked into a Leonia home occupied by two residents and threatened to “whoop their ass,” said police who arrested him.

Shaquille A. Irving, 25, of Brooklyn was outside the Highwood Avenue home when officers responded to an emergency call at 11:30 a.m. today (Tues., June 9th), Leonia Police Chief Scott Tamagny said.

Irving and the residents don’t know one another, the chief noted.

Police charged Irving with criminal trespassing and making terroristic threats, then released him pending court action under New Jersey’s bail reform law.

We are proud to announce the SLEO I Destiny Portillo is now Police Officer Portillo. Destiny graduated from the SLEO I academy class on May 21st. At the June 3rd Mayor and Council meeting, Destiny was sworn in as Leonia Police Department's newest police officer.
Destiny will start the Bergen County Police Academy next month to obtain her license as a Police Officer. Congratulations Destiny and good luck as you start your law enforcement career! And thank you to the Mayor and Council for supporting the Police Department.
