Exciting news for our water customers!

The City of Leslie is currently piloting monthly water-meter readings, with the goal of allowing residents to view their usage and pay their water bill every month. While we do not have a firm implementation date yet, we are aiming for early 2027.

Monthly bills will be available for paperless residents only. Customers who have not provided City staff with an email address will continue to receive a quarterly bill by mail.

If you haven’t already, please take a couple of minutes to complete our paperless billing form so you can take advantage of monthly billing when it becomes available. More information will be shared as we continue testing and move closer to implementation.

DID YOU KNOW?

If you receive an absentee ballot, you can still put it through the tabulator yourself!

During the nine days of early voting, you may bring your completed absentee ballot—inside the secrecy sleeve—to your early voting location. After an election inspector verifies your information and ballot number, you can personally insert it into the tabulator, just like you would on Election Day.

This is a great option for voters who enjoy the comfort of completing their ballot at home but would still like to tabulate it themselves!

📍 Where do Leslie residents vote early?

The City of Leslie and Leslie Township partner for early voting. Residents of both communities report to the same early voting location:

Leslie Township Hall – Lower Level
4279 Oak Street

City of Leslie voters who wish to vote early—or personally tabulate their completed absentee ballot during early voting—will go to this location.

Please remember: City of Leslie voters who wait until Election Day will vote at City Offices, 602 W. Bellevue Street-Lower Level.

Prefer to return your absentee ballot to the Clerk’s Office or an official drop box? That’s perfectly safe, too! Returned ballots are securely stored until they are processed by a bipartisan team of trained election inspectors, with equal representation from Democrats and Republicans.

Ingham County is sending a mailer to registered voters who are not currently signed up for the Permanent Mail Ballot List.

Signing up is completely optional, but it’s a safe, easy and secure way to cast your vote. The mailer will include a QR code that takes you to the Michigan Voter Information Center (MVIC), where you can sign up online for the Permanent Mail Ballot List. You may also complete the paper form instead.

Just to clarify: signing up online does not mean you’ll receive an electronic ballot. Your official ballot will still be physically mailed to you before each election. You can then complete it and return it by mail, at the City Clerk’s Office or in the City’s secure ballot drop box.

City of Leslie residents-keep an eye on your mailbox!

This informational flyer regarding the City’s Street Millage Proposal will be mailed to residents soon. It explains what is being proposed, the estimated cost, how the funding could be used, and answers several common questions.

Have questions? Join us for a “Let’s Talk About It” Town Hall Informational Meeting:

September 22 at 6:00 p.m.
October 20 at 6:00 p.m.

Both meetings will be held one hour before the City Council meeting at Leslie City Hall.

The proposal will appear on the November 3, 2026 ballot. This information is provided for educational purposes only and is not intended to urge a vote for or against the proposal.

We love seeing our community support the things that matter to them...including our library! We just need to share a quick reminder that all signs must be placed on private property and outside of the public right-of-way. This includes “I Love My Library” signs, garage sale signs, political signs and any other temporary signs.

Our crews have been moving several signs farther into yards, but some keep finding their way back. Signs in the right-of-way can block drivers’ views and interfere with mowing, snow removal and other DPW work.

If you have a sidewalk, the area between the sidewalk and the road is typically part of the right-of-way. Please feel free to show your support-just a little farther back in your yard. Thank you!
