The NRCFPD responded to 3 different large wildland fires starting on the evening of 2/19 and extending into 2/20. Crews worked hard to contain the fires and keep containment with the high winds. We would like to thank all agencies that responded or helped in any way. Everyone worked great together which makes managing multiple incidents at once a lot easier.

***Update***
The Wildland Fire located at the Jct Cnty rd 828 and CC road has been contained. All firing operations around perimeter have been completed. The interior of the fire will continue to burn throughout the night and tomorrow. Fire Crews will be on scene tomorrow to check on burning areas. The total area ended up being right at 240 acres. All options were evaluated and it was determined that using roads to burn from would be the safest option due to steep terrain and blow down. Here is the current containment area for the fire. Smoke will settle into the area tonight so expect hazy conditions.

During the operations of this fire NRCFPD was dispatched for a structure fire. A crew from this fire along with Ellington Fire Dept responded to the structure fire and quickly brought it under control containing it to part of one room on an exterior wall. That crew then returned to the Wildland fire.

We would like to thank the Ellington Volunteer Fire Dept and the US Forest Service for the excellent team work as always.
