Community Invitation – Honoring John Keith Rumbaugh
We invite our community to join us at the Levelland City Council Meeting on Monday, September 14, at 6 PM as we remember and honor John Keith Rumbaugh and a life dedicated to service.
John was born and raised in Levelland and graduated from Levelland High School in 1978. He went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Army before returning home to serve the community where he grew up.
John began his career with the City of Levelland Water Department, where he worked for eight years before pursuing a lifelong interest in law enforcement. After graduating from the SPAG Law Enforcement Academy in 1986, he became a Levelland Police Officer. In a 1987 newspaper profile, John spoke about how much he enjoyed “serving and protecting the public.” He ultimately retired from the City of Levelland in 1997 after years of public service.
On September 14, members of John’s family will return to Levelland as we recognize both his military service to our country and his public service to our community.
During the meeting, his family will be presented with a Texas flag provided by Senator Charles Perry’s office and a United States flag provided by Congressman Jodey Arrington’s office.
Following the presentation, Jeana’s Feedbag has graciously offered to provide cake and drinks so our community can spend a few moments visiting with the family and sharing memories of John.
John’s story is truly one of service from serving his country, to working for his hometown, to protecting the citizens of Levelland.
We hope that former coworkers, friends, community members, and anyone whose life was touched by John will join us as we welcome his family back to Levelland and show them that his service has not been forgotten.
Once a part of Levelland, always a part of Levelland.
