The Leverett Fire Department took delivery of a new Whaly 435R 14-foot boat today. It will be used for rescue operations on Leverett pond and surrounding lakes and waterways. We're still waiting on essential supplies, an LFD logo, and for the Leverett Elementary School students to give it a name. The boat was entirely paid for by citizen donations to the Leverett Firefighters Association. Thank you to everyone who donated!

The class presented the science behind lithium-ion batteries, how they fail, and how different devices behave when the batteries inside them catch fire. We discussed everything from cell phones to e-bikes, electric cars, and power walls. Lessons learned will result in new and updated firefighting tactics brought back to Leverett.
