If you live on the western end of Greenbrier County in the 47th district know your Delegate in Charleston Ray Canterbury voted against protecting children from abuse. Is that who we really want representing us at the Capital?

40 WV Republicans just voted against Raylee's Law HB 5669.
7 didn't vote at all.
This motion to suspend the House Rule to allow the bill to be considered on Crossover Day failed because of these delegates.

HB 5525 Southern West Virginia Clean Water Fund Act of 2026 was double referenced first to the House Committee on Energy and Public Works, but never came to a vote there.

Wednesday, March 4, was Day 50 (Crossover Day), meaning it’s the last day to consider bills on third reading in the house of origin. HB 5525 never was passed out of Energy Committee or its second reference to Finance.

There was a motion on the floor to discharge the bill for immediate consideration Wednesday afternoon, meaning a suspension of the constitutional rule to have a bill read on three separate days. The list of delegates that voted no were voting no on that discharge motion, NOT on the Southern West Virginia Clean Water Fund Act of 2026.

The bill had not gone through the committee process with proper vetting, testimony and voting. There was also a $10 million fiscal note attached to the bill.

I PROUDLY VOTED YES on SB 250 - the Budget Bill - that includes $76 million for clean water throughout the state, to upgrade infrastructure, and to protect rivers and streams.

No one voted no on the Southern West Virginia Clean Water Fund Act of 2026, only the discharge motion for the reasons stated above.

I understand everyone’s frustration on this issue when it looks like so many people are voting against something so basic, but these are the facts.

The republican delegates Jeff Campbell & Ray Canterbury that are supposed to be working for us in Charleston has voted 3 times now against clean drinking water.

On Crossover Day (Day 50), the House considered HB 5525 :
A bill to create a Southern WV Clean Water Fund to help communities upgrade water systems and respond to emergencies.

Three procedural votes happened on the House floor.

Step 1
Motion to table the discharge (keep the bill in committee)
Campbell — YES
Canterbury — YES
Result: Failed 53–40

Step 2
Motion to discharge the bill from committee (release the bill)
Campbell — NO
Canterbury — NO
Result: Passed 52–41

Step 3
Motion to suspend the constitutional three-day rule (speed up the process)
Campbell — NO
Canterbury — NO
Result: Failed 47–46

Clean water shouldn’t be a regional issue.
Every West Virginian deserves safe, reliable water.
