Preble County Park District

Preble County Park District The Preble County Park District was created by Judge Dues in January of 2003. About 33 acres of forest area has been developed into hiking trails.

The first Park District Commissioners were appointed in February of 2003 and have worked diligently to establish the Board policies. In March of 2004, the Preble County Commissioners deeded over to the Preble County Park District, 100 acres of mixed farmland and forest to be used as the first County Park. The land was donated by a local family and has been developed as the Allen & Adaline Garber N

ature Center. Another 60 acres remain as crop land and is leased out to bring income to the Park District. A wetland was created on some of the crop land and 975 trees were planted in an area adjacent to the forest.

Leaf Kabobs, What’s That?
Saturday, November 5th 1-3pm
Falling leaves, their colors and their crunch are forever a fascination. We will be collecting leaves of various kinds and placing them on small twigs, doing leaf rubbings, and sharing the book, Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert. Find out what is taking place in the tree at this time of year. Help us build the living tree and discover what each part of a tree is and does. You are welcome to run and jump in the leaves at any age! Come have fun. Dress for the weather and meet in the Mary Hayes Pavilion at Garber Nature Center, 9691 SR503 N, Lewisburg, OH. Program is FREE with donations welcomed.
