When we bring on new volunteers to our department we pass along-two things among others. One is that we tell our new personnel that we expect them to be good listeners. One of the other is to be energetic and devoted to learning. As Chief I let them know that we as a department will make them successful and become an asset to our community. This past weekend five of our Firefighters are examples of what we stress. These individuals are dedicated to our mission of protecting the lives and property of our citizens.

One game does not make a season. However the football Panthers looked very good this past Friday evening. Coach Bandstra had his team ready to play! Next up, the Panthers travel to Arcanum to meet the Trojans this Friday.

Kudos to Captain T Kring, Lt. R Gebhart, FF K Gebhart and FF J Browdy for their assistance and efforts to provide mutual aid to the Northwest Fire and EMS. Their invaluable help along with many other departments were able to mitigate a large incident yesterday.

As we get ready to celebrate our 250th year this 4th of July, please remember to stay safe and this is a stressful time for many pets in the community.

As a Fire Chief, we are confronted with many trying and difficult situations. One of the hardest is when we lose a fellow firefighter who passes away much too young. Our department would like to send our sincere condolences to Chief George and his GASPER TWP. FD on the passing of FF Mike Roberts Jr. FF Roberts was an integral and valuable member of Station 17. Also, our thoughts and prayers are with the Roberts family during this most difficult time. This family of public servants should be commended for the dedication to their communities.

We must pass along our sincere thanks to these young ladies and gentlemen. They stopped by our station today and dropped off some delicious treats for our team. These youngsters are in an internship with the Community of Faith Church. Your visit was very uplifting.
