Our friends over at County Family Support Center in Alderson generously donated backpacks to the Their Steps event this past Saturday.

We still have more to giveaway to children and students in our community!

If your child needs a backpack or a child you know is in need of a backpack, please stop by the church office this week!

We are extremely grateful that the United Way of the Greenbrier Valley supports our young adults as they learn to be Independent! Their assistance is invaluable in showing aging out children that they have people who want to help and support them in their journey. THANK YOU United Way 💙

Funded Partner Highlight: Children’s Home Society of West Virginia 💙

Children’s Home Society of West Virginia works to improve the lives of children and families through programs that provide support, advocacy, and opportunities for a brighter future. Across the state, they help children and young adults overcome challenges, build stability, and develop the skills needed to thrive.

Through funding from United Way of Greenbrier Valley, Children’s Home Society is able to support its Independent Living Program for Young Adults. This program helps young adults transitioning into independence and out of foster care by providing support with housing stability, basic needs, and opportunities to build life skills.

We're proud to support programs that help young adults build confidence, achieve independence, and create a strong foundation for their future. 💙

It’s going to be a GREAT day at the State Fair! 🎡💙

Today, 150 children and youth in foster care have the opportunity to spend the day riding rides, having fun, and simply being kids!

A HUGE thank you to Mountain Valley Pipeline for generously sponsoring Mega Passes for our kids and making this day possible. 💙

We are also so thankful to the State Fair of West Virginia and all of the community partners who pitched in to help make today extra special. It truly takes a community, and we are incredibly grateful for one that continues to show up for our kids.

Now let the fair fun begin! 🎠🎢🌽
We hope everyone has the BEST day! 💙

Last Saturday, we were honored to welcome volunteers from WVSOM as part of United Way’s Day of Giving.

Their team spent the day making a lasting impact in more ways than one. They organized and cleaned our donation storage area, making it easier for our staff to quickly access essential items for the children, youth, and families we serve. They also assembled our new patio furniture, creating a welcoming outdoor space where staff can enjoy lunch, collaborate with one another, or meet with clients in a comfortable setting.

Perhaps the most meaningful part of the day was helping a young family move into their very first apartment. What may have seemed like a few hours of lifting boxes and furniture represented a fresh start and a new chapter for a family building a foundation for their future.

We are incredibly grateful to the WVSOM volunteers for generously sharing their time, energy, and compassion, and to United Way for making the Day of Giving possible. Community partnerships like these remind us that service comes in many forms, and that even behind-the-scenes work can create opportunities, restore hope, and change lives.

Thank you for helping us continue our mission of strengthening children, families, and communities. We couldn’t do it without partners like you.

If you live in Greenbrier, Summers, Monroe, Pocahontas or a surrounding county and have a child placed through foster care in your home, call us to reserve your mega pass!

These are good for Tuesday, August 18th, all day! Even if you can only come after work - that’s ok! We will make sure your foster child receives the mega pass.

We have resources we can try to access if you have other needs that would prevent you from attending. Just give us a call! If you need to contact us after hours you can email [email protected].
