We’re so excited to share that Saturday of Service had the privilege of participating in the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine New Student Orientation Resource Fair on August 4.

It was an incredible opportunity to connect with future doctors and to share our mission of feeding the hungry, physically and/or spiritually, and serving with love. ♥️

A huge thank you to the organizers for inviting us, and to everyone who stopped by our table to learn more, volunteer, or partner with us in serving our community. 🤲

Saturday of Service looks forward to working with new, as well as returning, volunteers. Together, we can help make a difference in the Greenbrier Valley and beyond.

On this episode of Church Cat...

It was a lazy, hazy day when Church Cat found himself looking into the dark, empty Great Hall at Edgewood Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg. He was doing what he does best....thinking. He knew that soon there would smiles, laughter, and volunteers coming together to serve another meal to the people he loves....YOU!
As he pondered this, he realized that not all those wonderful Osteopathic student volunteers would be back as they were headed out to different hospitals to finish their degree. He wondered.... would we get new students?
He knew that this was going to be another great year for Saturday of Service with wonderful volunteers, great food and fellowship all geared to serving our community.
All volunteers and Church Cat welcome YOU to the next Saturday of Service, August 15th.

NEITHER SNOW NOR RAIN NOR HEAT…

A huge shoutout to the traffic volunteers at Saturday of Service. They are the unsung heroes who can direct vehicles, communicate on walkie talkies, and wave like royalty...all at the same time!

These volunteers have mastered the art of:
1) The “who owns a certain (make and model) parked in the fire lane?”
2) The “you can totally pull up a little more.”
3) The “yes, you’re going the wrong way, but I’m too nice to yell.”

The traffic volunteers brave all kinds of weather to safely direct vehicles, keep the traffic line moving smoothly, and offer a smiling face to everyone being served in the drive-thru, as well as the meal delivery teams.

🍀4H in Action!!

Many thanks to members and leaders of the Falling Springs 4H Club who rolled up their sleeves and put their hearts into action at Saturday of Service on July 18 at Edgewood Presbyterian Church. The 4Hers were tasked with pasta salad prep, bread bagging, manning the clothing ministry area, and assisted with traffic.

Saturday of Service is proud of these young leaders for showing what “hands and hearts” to service truly means. The dedication of these young people in mission is inspiring.

BREAKING NEWS -
Local bank staff caught red handed…working with FOOD instead of FINANCES!!!

A team from Peoples Bank served at Edgewood Presbyterian Church on July 18 at the Saturday of Service Peoples Bank Volunteer Month. The staff at Peoples Bank showed that community care goes far beyond financial services. All volunteers at Saturday of Service give of their hands and hearts to help make a difference in our community. Thanks to ALL volunteers for your dedication, hard work, and selfless spirit. 🥰

On this episode of Church Cat...

The final notes of Saturday of Service drifted through the open doors,and Church Cat knew his duties for the day were finally complete.
It had been an exhausting morning of service. He had successfully supervised the morning arrivals from his perch in the driveway, and sat perfectly still near the door to provide a calming presence during the flurry of deliveries going out. With the drive thru starting, Church Cat enjoyed dozens of hands petting his orange and white fluffy fur. Every ounce of his energy had been spent maintaining the solemn dignity expected of a church cat.
Slinking away from the departing crowd, he found his favorite sanctuary behind the church in the parking lot. The cool, mossy earth beneath the thick green bushes called to him. With a heavy sigh, he collapsed onto a low concrete ridge, stretching his tired white paws forward. He let his eyes drift closed, listening to the rustle of the leaves above as he drifted into a well-deserved, holy nap.

On this episode of Church Cat....

Church Cat gave a BIG thumbs (or a paw up) yesterday for SOS. He noticed all the volunteers finishing prep work and the extraordinary folks from Peoples Bank also joining in. Everyone was smiling and getting ready to serve our precious community. Church Cat started thinking about all the other wonderful people and groups that could volunteer, and he would like to extend an invitation to join us on August 15th for our next meal. You can leave us a message on how to contact you or your group. Church Cat was happily thinking of new helpers when a security guard (volunteer) escorted him from the building. He didn't mind because he got a a few head rubs and he knew his work was done for the day! Mark your calendars for August 15th. Church Cat will be waiting.

Church Cat is anxiously waiting to see VOLUNTEERS from the community supporting our mission! This Saturday for SOS we’ll have Peoples Bank joining us to serve, and who knows... you might see YOUR favorite bank person. Church Cat will be happy to see all the wonderful people that come to SOS for a meal, and a smile!
