Members of the Hancock County Search and Rescue team along with Perry County Search and Rescue will be conducting training in the City of Hawesville today. If you notice an increase in the presence of emergency personnel and their K9 teams it is only a training exercise. There is not threat to the community. Two Local Men Killed in Hancock County Crash

Hawesville, Ky. — Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred Saturday night near the intersection of KY-271 and Hilldale Road.

According to KSP Post 16, troopers were called out by Hancock County dispatch just after 10 p.m. on August 8, 2026, to investigate the crash. The preliminary investigation indicates a red 1998 Ford Mustang ran off the roadway and struck an embankment.

The Hancock County Coroner pronounced both occupants dead at the scene: Sean Woosley, 23, of Hawesville, and Joshua Wood, 25, of Lewisport.

KSP Trooper Alena Oakes is leading the ongoing investigation. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
