GTFD would like to thank OCEMS for staffing an additional crew this past holiday weekend. An extra rig was staffed and stationed at GTFD Station 1 beginning early Friday morning to help support the increased holiday activity in our area.

We greatly appreciate our continued partnership and the teamwork between our departments. Efforts like this help strengthen emergency services for our community, especially during busy holiday weekends.

None of this would be possible without the continued support of our county and township leadership. Bright futures ahead — thank you!

Greenwood Township Fire Department wishes everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. 🇺🇸

Yesterday crews responded to a wildland fire near Griffin and Granger Roads. The fire reached approximately 20 acres before being brought under control. With the current dry conditions, fire danger remains VERY high across our area.

Please use extreme caution this weekend and follow all burning laws and restrictions. Burn permits are currently NOT being issued in our area.

Before any outdoor burning, please check the Michigan DNR Burn Permit Map:

Thank you to all responding personnel who helped contain the fire safely and quickly.

Stay safe and enjoy the holiday weekend.

GTFD is happy to announce that our 1979 yellow pumper has officially been replaced. Old Yellow served Greenwood Township well for many years, and while it’s hard to see it move on, we’re excited for what comes next.

We now have a Type 1 engine located at both Station 1 and Station 2, helping us continue to improve coverage and response capabilities for our community.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the department through the years — and thank you, Old Yellow, for your decades of service. 🚒

Greenwood Township Fire Department would like to thank Garland Resort for the productive and informative tour last week.

Our crew conducted a pre-incident survey to better prepare for any future responses, and we truly appreciate the time and cooperation from their team.

We were also greeted with a friendly “hey now” from a familiar face—longtime Garland resident “Roach,” who many of you know wears many hats around the area.

As always, we value these partnerships and look forward to continuing to work together to help keep our community safe.

Greenwood Township Fire Department responded to our first wildland fire of the year off Lyle Rd.

The fire was approximately 1 acre and had the potential to grow much larger if not for the quick initial response by Firefighter 105. Those of you who know Will will not be surprised—great work.

Additional support from the Mio DNR and the rest of our team helped bring the fire fully under control.

Nice job, everyone, and a big thank you to Mio DNR for the assist.
