Our crews have officially begun training with our brand new ladder truck, and we couldn’t be more excited to put this incredible apparatus into service for our community. Over the coming weeks, firefighters will be spending countless hours training to ensure we are fully prepared to operate safely, efficiently, and effectively when called upon.

The day we have all been waiting for!!! It’s been 5 years of work, design, and production but today it finally arrived. We officially took delivery of our brand new Spartan Ladder Truck. Several of our members and officers were on hand to greet our new truck. Thank you to Jack C. and everyone at Colden Enterprises for working as hard as we did to make this day happen. Now we begin our training so we can put the truck in service and it can begin serving our incredible community.

Another successful drill at Upper Mountain. We practiced our saw handling and cutting skills with a variety of saws and materials. Cutting and saw skills are vital to multiple scene operations. The various saws can be used for ventilation at fires, forced entry, extrication, and hazard removal, just to name a few. Everyone did a great job and seemed to have a good time. Stay tuned for more training and events at Upper Mountain!!

Last night was drill night and we finally got back outside!! With the weather changing, we can start practicing skills that we can’t do indoors during a Western New York winter. We were able to practice establishing a water supply from a hydrant, flowing water on hand lines and the deck gun, and most importantly exercised the pump after a long winter. Keep checking back to see our training throughout the year.

On Saturday, it was the Battle of the Badges. The Niagara County Police hockey team took on the Niagara County Fire hockey team at Dwyer Arena. Our ladder truck was on hand at the entrance with Niagara Active’s ladder truck to greet spectators as they arrived. Our EMS crew was on hand for the safety of the players and spectators. It seemed like everyone in attendance had a great time. Unfortunately, the Niagara County Police took home the victory. Thank you to our friends and families for coming out to support the teams and help raise some money for the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Peer Support Team. Time to get ready for next year!!!

In Western New York, we just can’t get enough ice hockey. Please join us for a charity hockey game on April 4 at Dwyer Arena at Niagara University. Admission will be free. There will be a basket raffle and 50/50 raffle during the game. All proceeds go to benefit the Niagara County Sheriff’s Peer Support Team. This is an incredible resource for the well being of the members of the Sheriff’s Office. Come have a good time and watch the Niagara County Sheriff’s team and Niagara County Fire team. Please share this and let’s get as many people there as we can!!!

The aerial device was put on the truck and tested. Does anyone know what that means? That means we have made it to the final update before going to the final inspection and seeing the finished truck in person. The next update will be pictures we take of the completed truck. Check back to see it and then stay tuned for all of the training and events we are planning to do in the coming months with this new Ladder Truck. Thank you to all of our families, friends, and our community for all of the support during this incredible project.
