This is Pilot Rock as seen from the Elk City Wagon Road. This camera shot was taken a short distance south of the Mountain House Way Station site. "Pilot Rock" held spiritual significance to the early Nez Perce people as they traveled the old South Nez Perce Trail by foot and horseback to the Bitterroot country and beyond. There is currently a fire lookout tower on Pilot K**b in close proximity to Pilot Rock. The Mountain House Way Station was the highest way station point on the Elk City Wagon Road at an elevation of 6283 feet.

The Clearwater Grange's annual Chili Feed, scheduled for Saturday, October 2, 2021, and the final meeting of the Friends of the Elk City Wagon Road for 2021 are both cancelled due to COVID outbreak in the area. The Friends of the Elk City Wagon Road's first meeting for 2022, will be February 5, 2022, 11:00 A.M. in the Clearwater Grange with a potluck lunch to follow. The Elk City Wagon Road Museum, located in the Clearwater Grange Hall, will be open for viewing. Anyone who is genuinely interested in helping us to permanently preserve the historic old Elk City Wagon Road and the rich history surrounding it is cordially invited to attend. We are strictly a nonpolitical, volunteer history preservation group. A local history presentation is included in each meeting.

Welcome to our Friends of the Elk City Wagon Road page. Facebook would only let me title our page as "Friends of Elk City Wagon" for some reason. Here is my September 2021 issue of the Elk City Wagon Road Gazette. I hope you enjoy reading it. The Friends of the Elk City Wagon Road final meeting for 2021 is scheduled for October 2, 2021, 11:00 A.M. The Elk City Wagon Road Museum located in the Clearwater Grange Hall will be open for viewing. There will be NO potluck lunch after the meeting since the Grange's annual chili feed will begin at 4:00 P.M. There will be several kinds of chili available for your dining pleasure. The chili feed is a fund-raiser for the Clearwater Grange to help with building upkeep. Everyone is invited to attend. Our Friends of the Elk City Wagon Road meetings will resume the first Saturday in February 2022, 11:00 A.M. with a potluck lunch to follow. Anyone who is genuinely interested in helping us preserve the historic old Elk City Wagon Road and the valuable history surrounding it is cordially invited to come and be a part of our volunteer group. We are strictly a nonpolitical, local history preservation group. We have a wonderful working group of volunteers.

The Friends of the Elk City Wagon Road will meet Saturday, June 5, 2021, 11:00 A.M. in the Clearwater Grange Hall to continue planning for Clearwater to Elk City Wagon Road Days, July 17 & 18, 2021. A potluck lunch will follow the meeting. The Elk City Wagon Road Museum, located in the Grange Hall, will be open for viewing. Anyone who is interested in helping us to preserve the history of the historic old Elk City Wagon Road and the area surrounding, is cordially invited to attend and be one of our volunteers. We are strictly a nonpolitical, history preservation group. We also be meeting June 26, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. in the Grange Hall with potluck to follow. The June 26 meeting will be the final meeting before our annual events July 17 & 18.

This beautiful handmade quilt, made by Friends of the Elk City Wagon Road President Susanne Smith, will be raffled off during our annual Clearwater to Elk City Wagon Road Days events. The drawing will be held Sunday, July 18, 2021, 10:30 A.M. in the Clearwater Grange Hall. Tickets are $1.00 per ticket or 6 for $5.00.
