To Our Valued Customers:
Good News! The Lewiston Community Services District (District) has secured $3,301,400.00 in grant funding from both the State Water Resources Control Board - Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and Department of Water Resources Integrated Regional Water Management. This grant funding is being used to replace the water distribution system within the Lewiston Park Subdivision and develop Well 8 at the Community Park.
The new distribution system will not only replace the old leaking system but will help with fire flow as seven new fire hydrants will be installed, including three along Lewiston Road. The project also includes replacement of your water meters with an advanced metering infrastructure that will allow you, as the customer, to log in 24/7 to monitor your water usage and alert you to any leaks that may be occurring within your home. This improves the District's overall water self-reliance. We will reach out separately to a few customers as the Contractor will need right of entry permission to relocate water meters out of customers backyards. The Well 8 will be developed to supply water to both the District and the community Park.
The District has also secured $237,952.00 in grant funding through the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation to connect the Community Park irrigation system, garden, and horse arena to Well 8, as well as install a multi-use basketball/pickle ball court at the Community Park adjacent to the old gym.
The District anticipates construction to start next year. Please bear with us as we go through one more rendition of construction as our streets in the subdivision are tore up once again. The good news is that after the new systems are in place, the streets within the subdivision will be resurfaced.
Please feel free to contact me at (530) 778-0306 if you would like any other information regarding these upcoming projects.
Sincerely,
Mel Deardorff, President and Fire Chief
