Prohibited under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire or stove fire except within a designated recreation site, or on their own land, and only within an owner-provided fire structure.
Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, building, or designated recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.

Public Assistance was approved for the Presidential Declaration; Individual Assistance was not.

Individual Assistance (IA): Benefits individuals, families, and renters. It provides money and direct services for temporary housing, emergency home repairs, and other disaster-caused expenses like medical, dental, or funeral costs.

Public Assistance (PA): Benefits whole communities. Funds are distributed to government entities or certain private non-profits to clear debris, conduct emergency protective measures, and repair public infrastructure like roads, bridges, and utilities.

FEMA’s Public Assistance Program provides supplemental grants to state, tribal, territorial, and local governments, and certain types of private non-profits so communities can quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies.

BOISE, ID – President Donald Trump has approved the State of Idaho’s Major Disaster Declaration to help six Idaho counties and areas affected by damaging winds followed by intense rainfall from an atmospheric river which caused catastrophic flooding, landslides, and debris runoff.

The counties covered in the Presidential Disaster Declaration include Benewah, Bonner, Clearwater, Kootenai, Latah, and Nez Perce Counties. The March 11-15, 2026, storm event brought wind gusts from 58-99 mph across the region and ushered in a period of prolonged and intense rainfall leading to flooding, severe landslides and debris flows. A Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment conducted by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Idaho Office of Emergency Management (IOEM), and local representatives in April confirmed the total damage across the counties surpassed $5.9 million.

Fireworks Fire and Injury Facts:

Fireworks started an estimated 34,079 fires in 2024, including 3,246 structure fires, 857 vehicle fires, 29,517 outside fires, and 459 unclassified fires. These fires caused an estimated 59 civilian injuries and $98 million in direct property damage.
