Registration is still open for PA Weekend at the National Fire Academy (July 17-19), but there are fewer than 50 class slots left! Let’s fill them up—because THEY ARE 100% FREE for PA responders! 🚒🔥

If it’s not showing up, it means you don't have a Pennsylvania organization listed in your Acadis profile. Here is how to fix it:

PA Responders (Missing/Wrong Org): Email [email protected] to get your correct PA organization added to your profile.

Out-of-State Responders: Don't worry! You can register DIRECTLY with the NFA once Pennsylvania registration closes at the end of June. Keep an eye on our page—we will make another post with contact info as soon as out-of-state registration opens for the remaining slots!

Engine Academy 1 is kicking off Day 3 at the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy after another strong day of hands-on engine company training yesterday.

Day 2 focused on advancing operational hose skills through wet line drills, hose movement over ladders, forcible entry operations, and extended/leader line familiarization. Students also completed the required NFPA 1403 safety briefing in preparation for today’s live fire training.

Today, students move into some of the most anticipated portions of the academy, including flashover recognition, reading smoke conditions, SCBA confidence maze evolutions, and residential live fire scenarios designed to reinforce coordinated engine company operations under realistic fireground conditions.

The progression this week continues to emphasize firefighter safety, discipline, and mastering the fundamentals before advancing into increasingly demanding environments.

Engine Academy 1 is officially underway at the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, and Day 1 set the foundation for an outstanding week of hands-on engine company training.

Students spent the day building core operational fundamentals through water supply operations, air entrainment concepts, water mapping, hoseline management, and dry line drills in preparation for tomorrow’s live fire evolutions.

The crawl-walk-run approach continues to drive the program, ensuring students understand not just the “how,” but the “why” behind engine company operations before advancing into increasingly complex scenarios.

Looking forward to seeing this group continue to grow as the week progresses. Strong work by both the students and instructional staff getting Engine Academy 1 off to a great start.

🔥 NEW CLASSES ADDED! Let’s Max Out the NFA!

Pennsylvania is showing up in a BIG way this year! Registration numbers for PA Weekend at the National Fire Academy (July 17–19) are the highest they’ve been in years. 🚒

We want to hit 400 PA firefighters, so we’ve added two brand-new Pilot Programs to the schedule:

1️⃣ Fire as a Weapon: A deep dive into criminal/terrorist fire tactics, threat recognition, and interagency response.
2️⃣ Management of Catastrophic Incidents: Master the skills needed for large-scale disasters, mass casualty events, and high-pressure decision-making.

💰 REMINDER: This training is FREE for PA Responders!

The second truck academy 1 is complete and cleaned up! Crews spent two long and wet days forcing doors, clearing floors, cutting roofs, and venting windows. The monsoon through both days provided enough water from the skies that no hose lines were needed.

Interested? There’s still one more this year scheduled in the fall that fan be signed up for through Acadis.
