Madison Aquifer Alliance Not For Profit, Non Partisan Organization dedicated to protection of our community and our vital resouce-WATER-in Central Montana

This page is dedicated to bring community awareness on issues affecting the Madison Aquifer in Central Montana and around the State of Montana and to ensure protection of this aquifer from ALL contamination sources. We are concerned with the new prospects of oil and gas development and hydro-fracking in Central Montana. We are calling for a ban on all fracking and oil and gas development near sens

itive areas, springs and recharge areas of the Madison Aquifer, as well as a moratorium on oil and gas development throughout the State of Montana until studies can be done to determine the risks and viable solutions to protect water sources, fishing and wildlife habitat and farming and ranching in Montana. Montana's clean water is not worth the risks. We stand and defend the Constitution of the State of Montana and provisions outlined in Article 9 section 1:
"The state and each person shall maintain and improve a clean and healthful environment in Montana for present and future generations". We advocate responsible water use with the continued drought conditions throughout much of Eastern and Central Montana. The millions of gallons of fresh water used in fracking can better be used by farmers/ranchers in carrying on the traditions of Generations of Montanans. We have always had a sustainable economy - Agriculture. Our way of life has been passed down for generations, not through short term gain for a few at the expense of the many in our communities, clean air and water. We can build a sustainable economy for everyone not just for those who benefit from oil and gas development.
