Over the last 2 days the department has been out and about at different events for Halloween. Monday, members attended a local trunk or treat at the Lewistown Moose Lodge and last evening we were at the Highland Park Station giving lots of treats to the local trick or treaters. We saw some great costumes and got to meet a lot of our neighbors and talked to some old friends that stopped by to see us. We look forward to being out and interacting with the people we serve and protect and showing them what we do.

Stop by the Highland Park Station during your trick or treat travels tomorrow evening and get treats for the whole family…including your K-9 children! We will be there from 6-8 handing out candy, chips, hot dogs, coffee and hot chocolate.

Come see us on Halloween! We will be at our Highland Park station (the old Highland Park Hose Company) handing out treats from 6-8 pm during Derry Township's trick or treat times. Bring the whole family we have treats for everyone! We will be cooking hot dogs, hot chocolate, coffee, and candy for the kiddos and even treats for our K-9 friends.
Our fire trucks will be on display, along with an Ambulance from Fame EMS and a police car from Mifflin County Regional Police (as long as they are both not too busy with other calls)

Today was our annual fire prevention trip to the East Derry Elementary School. We had a special visit from Smokey the Bear. This is always a fun event for us to teach the kids fire safety and show them our equipment. Captain Haubrick even earned some paw awards for his good behavior today!

To kick off fire prevention week, Engine 2 and Engine 4 handled a public service event today at the Maitland Church of the Brothern for their annual Fall Festival. Thank you to everyone that stopped by to say hello, and to the church for inviting us to participate again this year and a special thanks to Brannon and Royer Septic Services for providing our crew with lunch. Our members enjoy being out in the community interacting with the public. If you see us out and about please stop and say hi and learn about what we do.

Today the proud new owners of Squad 2-1 came from San Jose Illinois to take it to its new home. She will be spending her last night at station 2 before taking the 12ish hour treck to her new home. She has served the East Derry Fire Company and the Chief Logan Fire Department very well over the years and still has a lot of life left in her.
It was great meeting these gentlemen and hanging out for the day. We wish you the best and safe travels back home.
