PRESS RELEASE

On 07/27/2026 at approximately 23:56, Fulton County Deputies were headed east bound on E. Broadway St, Astoria. Deputies observed a blue SUV headed westbound on E. Broadway. The vehicle was driving onto the curb and sidewalk. Deputies were advised by dispatch that several calls and a 9-1-1 call were received regarding this vehicle’s erratic driving behavior. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle continued west bound on W. Broadway then to E. US 24 Hwy. A pursuit then began with the suspect vehicle reaching speeds close to 100 mph and continuing to drive erratically. Deputies were further advised during the pursuit that this vehicle was involved in a hit and run in Canton.
The suspect vehicle traveled through Rushville and eventually was involved in a crash when the vehicle drove through a fence and into a bean field. The vehicle continued trying to flee near the intersection of Co Hwy 1 and US 67 Hwy where the suspect vehicle wrecked into a ravine. The driver was identified as Morgan A. King. Morgan was taken into custody at that time. Morgan’s vehicle began catching on fire and began producing large amounts of smoke. Deputies were able to use a fire extinguisher and put out the fire. Morgan refused medical treatment by Schuyler County EMS. After refusing medical treatment, Morgan was transported to the Fulton County Jail.
Morgan was charged with the following:
• 625 ILCS 5/11-204.1- Aggravated fleeing/eluding
• 625 ILCS 5/11-907- Failure to yield authorized emergency vehicle
• 625 ILCS 5/11-601.5(b)- Speeding over 35 mph posted speed limit
• 625 ILCS 5/11-708- Improper lane use/wrong side
• 625 ILCS 5/11-701- Driving in wrong lane
• 625 ILCS 5/11-503- Reckless driving
• 625 ILCS 5/501(a)(4)- DUI drugs or combination of drugs

Update to the incident that occurred in St. David on 7/18/26.

On 07/22/26, Maikel Tineo, 25 of Chicago, was charged with Attempted Murder, Home Invasion, Armed Robbery, and Residential Burglary. A detention hearing was held, and Tineo will remain in custody at the Fulton County Jail.

Two other suspects remain at a local hospital.

This was an isolated incident and it remains under investigation.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
