Courtenay Sprunger voted to raise property taxes on Flathead Valley businesses.

During the last legislative session, Sprunger supported Senate Bill 542 and House Bill 231—measures that increased commercial property taxes across the region.

According to the Montana Department of Revenue, commercial property taxes in the Flathead Valley are estimated to rise 12.26%, with some local businesses seeing increases as high as 30% to 50%.

As the Flathead Beacon reported, residents are saying that this new tax structure places a heavy burden on Flathead Valley businesses.

And when businesses pay more, families pay more.

Flathead Valley families deserve leadership that protects local jobs, not policies that make everything more expensive.

You know what’s wild?

In a community built on hunting and fishing, Wayne Rusk voted against protecting the right to hunt and fish.

House Bill 372, 2023 simply stated, “The citizens of Montana have the right to hunt, fish, trap, and harvest wild fish and wildlife”

It locked our Montana harvest heritage into the constitution so no one could chip away at it later.

Wayne Rusk voted no.

Maybe Wayne thinks our Montana way of life doesn’t need protecting.

Lyn Bennett voted to raise property taxes on Flathead Valley Businesses.

Lyn Bennett voted for HB 542 and Senate Bill 231, legislation that increased property taxes across the Flathead Valley.

According to the Montana Department of Revenue, commercial property taxes in the Flathead Valley have risen 12.26%, with some businesses seeing 30% to 50% increases.

As the Flathead beacon reported, "many Kalispell business owners say the new tax formula has placed a disproportionate burden on local businesses."

That means higher prices for everyone.
Flathead Valley families deserve better.

During the 2023 legislative session, Republican Michele Binkley made it clear that she believes books like Gender Q***r should be available in your libraries for your children at your taxpayer expense.

When HB 264, a bill to stop obscene material from being shown or given to minors in school, came to a vote - Michele Binkley voted no.

Why would Michele want to keep that kind of content in front of Montana's children?

Rep. Courtenay Sprunger’s PR company secured a lucrative $9,000,000 contract with the Montana Department of Transportation.

Then, the first bill she sponsored in the legislature was a $100,000,000 increased funding bill for that same department.(HB 267 - 2023)

When is it a conflict of interest for Courtenay to use her elected position to appropriate money to the department that has given her the largest PR contract in the state?

How much of that increased funding ultimately benefits her own company?

We deserve leaders who serve the public — not their own contracts.

Montana faces a serious spending challenge, and budget decisions ultimately fall under the responsibility of the Appropriations Committee, chaired by Llew Jones of Conrad. As we approach the next legislative session, thoughtful leadership and fresh ideas will be crucial. Voters must research and evaluate all candidates.

The State of Montana has a spending problem. According to Americans for Tax Reform (Grover Norquist's tax group), as of FY 24 the State Funds budget was $392 million higher than it would have been had spending grown at the rate of population growth plus inflation over the past decade. All Funds (includes federal $) was $1.5 billion higher than population + inflation.

According to the Montana Stockgrowers Association, due to SB 542, “Our producers will see an increase in rates from utilities. They will also see a hit to their bottom line from property taxes. Bills like these and additional costs like these make it harder for the next generation to stay in the industry.” — Public Testimony, MSGA Opposition to SB 542, April 29, 2025.

However, Representative Valerie Moore (HD 29) voted for this plan, which raised taxes by 10.9% on businesses and 6.75% on agricultural land.

Instead of fixing Montana’s property tax problem, Valerie just shifted it from residential properties onto agricultural land and businesses.

Valerie didn't protect her neighbors, she helped drive up the cost of keeping a farm and business alive.

Representative Ken Walsh voted for legislation (HB 275) that would have created a loophole, allowing illegal immigrants to drive in Montana without a driver’s license.

Under Montana law 61-5-105(10), a person whose presence in the United States is not authorized under federal law may not obtain a driver’s license.

The legislation Walsh voted for states, “a person who is ineligible for a driver’s license under Montana law 61-5-105(10) is eligible for a driving privilege card.”

Ken Walsh chose to side with illegal immigrants rather than protecting the public safety of Montana citizens.
