Simple, age appropriate conversations can build trust, help children recognize when something does not feel right, and remind them that caring adults are ready to listen and help.

Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas hosted our inaugural Safeguarding Students: Protecting Children in Our Schools Summit, bringing together educators and school resource officers from Denton, Wise, and Jack counties.

Held at the Lewisville Police Department, this no-cost training covered mandated reporting, supporting high-risk youth, collaboration with child advocacy and law enforcement professionals, and strengthening prevention efforts in schools.

Survivor and advocate Faith Colson shared her powerful story and valuable insight into creating safer schools for children. Her advocacy also inspired Faith’s Law, legislation created to help protect students.

Last week, our Education team visited school district administration buildings across Denton County to connect with those who support students every day, share information about our upcoming Safeguarding Students Summit, and deliver a special treat as staff prepare for the 2026–2027 school year!

We loved having the opportunity to connect in person and look forward to continuing to work together to help keep students safe.
