Start taking small steps toward change!

Small steps are the key to transitioning from an unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one. Focus on small improvements every day, every week, and every month. Over time you will be amazed at the cumulative effect of your small efforts.

To get started, tell someone you trust that you have decided to change your health for the better. Ask that person to hold you accountable!

1. Physical - start your day with 16 ounces of room temperature water before you pick up that first cup of coffee
2. Spiritual - set an hourly reminder on your phone to re-center your thoughts on Jesus and spend a few minutes in prayer.
3. Emotional - before falling asleep make a mental health list of the things that went well in your life today.
4. Mental - commit to memorizing a new scripture verse. Start with Philippians 4:8.

Are you ready to be who you have always wanted? More importantly, to be who God wants you to be?

Choose to Nurture your strengths, vitality, and opportunity.
Choose to be intentional about your life
Choose to walk fully as the new creation

Stop making excuses!

The excuses we fill our minds make us believe we are at the mercy of things beyond our control. But usually, we aren't. No matter how much we try to outrun it, we cannot get away from the truth so clearly levied in Galatians 6:7, "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.

Sowing good seeds looks a lot like taking responsibility for your life. It resembles taking a hard look at where you are and where you want to be, and then deciding to bridge the gap. It is intentionally refusing to make excuses and choosing instead to make choices that lead to the life you want to be living. Excuses are a byproduct of a wrong focus. They come from focusing on obstacles

What is the biggest excuse you make for why you are not where you want to be at this point in your life? Be honest. When you know what it is, refuse to make that excuse anymore. If you find it creeping into your mind - stop the thought and replace it with "God is able to do a great work in me!"

Surrender your health to God
Your body was not created for your own gratification; it was designed for God's glory. However, if you are like most people, you treat your body as if it is yours to do with as you please. I know I am guilty! We run our bodies down, fill them with disease-causing food, fill our minds with toxic thoughts, neglect healthy relationships, fail to engage regularly with God...then get angry with Him when we wind up lonely and anxious.

Pursing health is a way to honor God. His sovereignty is not an excuse to live any old way because He is going to work it out in the end. Doing our part to keep ourselves in good health is an act of stewardship.

See you tomorrow for: Stop Making Excuses!

How do you feel today? Do you feel healthy? Strong and Energetic? How are you doing spiritually?

Scripture teaches that when you committed yourself to Jesus, you became a new creation fully and completely (2 Cor. 5:17). That newness applies not only spiritually, but also to every area of your health and well-being. God cares immensely about your physical, emotional, and mental health, as well. He has a plan for helping you walk fully in the newness He offers.

When you are obedient to God you are set free to live the life in which you were created to live. To get started on this path, choose to embrace the following three (3) key commitments of Biblical wellness:
1. Surrender your health to God
2. Stop making excuses
3. Start taking small steps toward change!

Tomorrow - I will discuss "Surrender your health to God". Pursuing health is a way to honor God. See you tomorrow..right here!

Each day God gives us a deposit of 24 hours, and the amazing part is that we get to spend it any way we chose. Guess what... we do just that. Have you ever stopped to think about what this means? We deplete that deposit every day; so, what we do with it matters. Psalm 90:12 is instructive: “So teach us to number our days...”.

To “number” our days, I believe, means to live each day as if it was our last...to use it to its fullest...to be careful with how we live, eat, sleep, connect, influence others, love, and so much more. Why? Because we belong to God...we are the sheep of His pasture. Life is not about us; it is about what God is doing in and through us!

Theme for my fiscal year, which is August 1st (DOB): "Becoming who yoU want to be; by any means necessary!" This will be the topic for "The Talk w/DrTraci" for the month of September 2020.

"The only difference between who you are and who you want to be is WHAT YOU DO!"

Coming soon...Since the pandemic I have been unable to travel to the radio station to provide the live syndication of "The Talk w/DrTraci" .....after much negotiation and prayer for direction - you will receive "The Talk w/DrTraci" live via facebook. Can't let those 6 years go to waste - there's too much to "talk" about.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 23:7, "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he".

That's our topic for Soul for Sunday.

What are you thinking about today? What thoughts are consuming you on this day? Are your thoughts lace with love or based on bitterness?

We must take all thoughts that are not good into captivity (2 Corinthians 10:5) and ask God to create in us a clean heart so that we can truly serve Him. You can't serve the God of Love with thoughts and actions of hate.

Our actions align with our thoughts...so how have you been acting lately?

Lewisville fire chief dies at 63

My dear friend. I am going to miss him. I have been one of the Lewisville Fire Department Chaplains for 5 years and he was truly a Man of God and a Servant to the People. He was a fighter with a very calm spirit and gentle soul: A well respected man. God bless the family. Chief, so long good friend, no more suffering, no more pain - rest in Jesus arms!

Lewisville Fire Chief Tim Tittle died early Monday morning, according to a social media post by the Lewisville Fire Fighters Association.

Happy New Year

The Sunday Morning Bible Study lesson tomorrow is entitled: "Hypocrites" (Matt. 23). We enter this world to practice what we teach. We must strive daily to be models of sincerity and integrity. For those of us in leadership positions, we should always seek to lead by example and not merely by giving orders. Dear Lord, keep us focused on You! Help us to be prayerful, knowing that You have it all in Your control. Amen.

It's time for "The Seed on Sunday's" from Dr. Traci - seems like a great slogan since I find myself posting every Sunday on "There is Hope" page.
1 Thessalonians 5:21-22
"Hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil".
Social media - it's how to get the buzz out. Businesses are begging, "See our social side! Like us on Facebook!"
One source reports that Facebook could be a country, with over 200 million users a year. In less than an hour, the whole world knows the news on the Internet. And between Facebook friends, reminders pop up that it's someone's birthday, they've posted pictures, or they have a new gripe, or family addition.
But whatever the news, good or bad, the challenge for all Christians is to monitor one's words - whether spoken or written - and include God in all parts of our lives. A woman posted a picture of herself up to her neck in bubbles in a Jacuzzi tub with the caption, "TGIF, Do something fun this Friday," one response (of many) was "So now you're posting naked pictures on Facebook?"
This is a startling example and reminder that the "world" watches.
King Solomon's writings in Proverbs 10 through 24 include at least fifty references to the necessity of guarding one's words and actions. Examples include, "The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin" (Proverbs 10:14) and "The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of sense" (Proverbs 10:21)
When it comes to social media, that advice still stands. That's the official word for today! Words can bring knowledge and words can bring destruction. Words can feed (give life) and words can cause death.
Prayer for today: Lord, guide me to choose wisely the words and actions of my daily life. I have the desire to speak life.

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again - rejoice! Phil. 4:4

Do you ever feel like life is a fifty-pound backpack? Life can get heavy if we aren't careful, with everyday worries wearing us down and making us exhausted. Even small decisions tend to grow in our minds to be more important than they really are. Big decisions can completely take us over so that even the most wonderful news becomes tainted.

Look away from the cares of this world! Rejoice in what the Lord has done! Instead of lending every thought to the troubles at hand, praise God for the ways He has provided in the past and doubtless will again in the future!

Begin to count your blessings, and feel the weight lifting off your shoulders. Feel the freedom you have to enjoy your life. Enjoy your home and the comfort it brings. Enjoy your family, pets, and things you have. Allow yourself to fully feel the joy that comes with the first snow, the first warm breeze of spring, or the first rays of sun in the morning. There are so many wonderful things to enjoy even as you read this!

Life is complicated, yes. But it should never be allowed to rob you of the joy the Lord provides, "I say it again - rejoice!"

Lord, You are so good! Teach me Your ways and show me Your faithfulness, that I may be full of joy because of You. You created this earth to be enjoyed, and enjoy it I shall!

Your mind is powerful. The thoughts you choose to dwell on have the power to determine the outcome of your day. They can pave the way for a calm and grateful heart, or set a course for cynicism and disbelief. There is such a benefit to fixing your thoughts on things that are good, pleasing, and perfect. God was not being legalistic when He said to think on these things (Phil. 4:8-9). He was giving us sound advice. He was showing us the path to peace. What makes your heart beat a little faster? What brings joy to your heart and a smile to your lips? What makes your eyes crinkle with laughter and your feet step a little lighter? Think about these things. Life is meant to be enjoyed. Relish the simple things!

Words are powerful and once spoken can never be erased. The words we speak affect other people for either good or bad and, according to the writer of Proverbs, can bring death or life. Strive to speak life-giving words to those around you in 2016.

Happy New Year! Many people make resolutions hoping to achieve new milestones in their lives; there's nothing wrong with this practice. However, you can't attempt to start over fresh while still carrying last year's baggage. If you harbor resentment and attitudes from past failures you are in for more disappointments.
