Meet Bat Baby: The Little Survivor with a Wild Side

Some kittens come into the shelter and steal your heart from day one. Bat Baby is one of those kittens.

Bat Baby arrived in our care after Animal Control found him with a severe wound to his head and neck. His injuries were significant, and in those first days, we honestly weren’t sure if he was going to make it. We don’t know exactly what happened to him, but based on the nature of his injuries, we suspect he may have gotten his head stuck in a car’s exhaust pipe.

While many of us were worried about his chances, one of our vet techs looked at this tiny fighter and was absolutely certain he was going to pull through.

And she was right.

Bat Baby’s recovery was a long journey filled with medications, treatments, rechecks, and lots of TLC. Two of our vet techs fostered, giving him the extra care and love he needed while he healed.

Today, Bat Baby is ready to find a home of his own.

Bat Baby is a fearless, energetic, full-throttle kitten who approaches life at maximum speed. He is wild, adventurous, endlessly curious, and always looking for his next bit of fun.

In fact, “wild child” might be the best way to describe him. He plays hard, explores everything, and lives every day like it’s his greatest adventure yet.

Because of his spirited personality, Bat Baby would do best with an experienced adopter who understands kitten behavior and can provide plenty of enrichment, playtime, and guidance as he continues to grow. He’ll need someone who appreciates his big personality and can help channel all that energy into positive outlets.

Bat Baby’s story could have ended very differently, but thanks to a lot of determination, dedicated veterinary care, and his own incredible fighting spirit, he’s here today looking for the family he deserves.

If you’re ready for a resilient little survivor with a zest for life that’s larger than life itself, Bat Baby is waiting to meet you!

Its turtle crossing season! And if you regularly commute, odds are, sooner or later, you'll come across a slow-poke jaywalker like our little shelled friend featured in the pic. So this is our official PSA.

If you encounter a turtle in the road:
✅️ Help the turtle safely cross to the other side of the road in the direction that it was moving 🚫 Do not lay down in the middle of the road to take selfies (Heather, we're looking at you!) ✅️ Ensure that you handle the turtle minimally and that you wash your hands thoroughly after. 🚫 Do NOT take the turtle home and try to make it a pet. It does not want to live in a tank in your basement. It wants to live outside, in nature, without you trying to force feed it random things that aren't a part of its natural diet. ✅️ Drop a photo in the comments if you've recently saved a turtle from becoming squished by a car! And thanks for being an animal advocate! ❤️🐢❤️
