🎉 CELEBRATING BIG GAINS AT DIXIE MAGNET ELEMENTARY! 🎉
Our Dixie Dolphins have so much to celebrate on this year’s Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA)! While our overall rating landed in the Yellow, our momentum is undeniable as we swim straight toward Green with a massive 5.5-point overall gain! 🐬📈✨

Here are a few highlights from our remarkable progress:
🏆 #1 IN THE STATE FOR ENGLISH LEARNERS! Dixie scored the HIGHEST EL scores in the entire state of Kentucky! We are officially top-tier, and we couldn't be prouder of our students and incredible language team!

🔬 EXPLOSIVE SCIENCE GROWTH: Our scholars jumped an astounding 11 points in Science!

📚 3rd GRADE READING STARS: Our 3rd graders outperformed BOTH the district and state averages in Reading!

🌟 CLOSING THE GAP: Our Economically Disadvantaged and African American student populations showed growth across the board in almost every single academic area!

🏫 A SAFE & WELCOMING SCHOOL FAMILY: Our Quality of School Climate and Safety Survey scores increased from last year, proving that Dixie remains a safe, positive, and supportive place to learn and grow every day.

Progress takes patience, partnership, and hard work. Thank you to our brilliant students, dedicated teachers, outstanding staff, and supportive families.

We are growing, we are thriving, and we are making huge waves! 💙🐬

⚡️ Welcome to the Family! 🎡🏠

🖤❤️💚💙Today was a huge milestone for our newest 🐬Dixie Dolphins🐬—it was officially Kindergarten House Sorting Day!🖤❤️💚💙

Our little ones took a spin on the wheel of destiny to discover which house they’d belong to. As soon as the wheel landed, our awesome 5th-grade house leaders stepped up to welcome them with big cheers, rushing them over to the 5th-grade complex to meet the oldest members of their new house family!

From the youngest learners to our graduating leaders, we're building bonds that last all year long. 4 Houses. 1 Dixie School Family. 💙

🎉 Huge news for Dixie Elementary! 🐴✨

One of our very own students, Libby Braun, was selected as a finalist in the FCPS & Breeders’ Cup 3D Coin Design Challenge! 🏆 Over 1,000 students across 20 schools participated in this unique STEM, literacy, and social studies project, and Libby’s design made the top 10!

Her winning design is being 3D-printed at the FCPS Fab Lab and featured inside 1,000 commemorative horseshoe displays across Lexington this month.
Way to represent Dixie, Libby! We are so proud of you! 💙

💙 We may be a few days late, but we never want to miss an opportunity to celebrate the people who make Dixie special! 💙

🧹 Happy Custodian Day! 🧹
A HUGE thank you to Mr. Bruner, Ms. Layne, and Mr. Thompson for all you do each and every day to keep our school clean, safe, welcoming, and ready for our Dolphins!

📚 And today is National Curriculum Coach Day! 📚
Today we get to celebrate our incredible Ms. Lizer! Thank you for the countless ways you support our teachers, for the guidance and encouragement, and for always working to make Dixie even better.

💡🍎Better together! 🍎💡

Our teachers spent today collaborating and diving deep into different co-teaching models to make sure every single student gets the support and challenge they need to thrive. We’re constantly learning so our students can do the same—and we can’t WAIT to see all those smiling faces back in the classrooms tomorrow morning! See you all soon! 👋✨

Walking, rolling, and high-fiving into the morning!

Our Bike and Walk to School Day got an extra boost of energy thanks to the Frederick Douglass High School basketball team! Players were right there on the curb helping students safely out of their cars, greeting everyone with warm "good mornings," and handing out high-fives as students walked and rolled into school.
Having these incredible student-athletes step up as role models turned an ordinary morning commute into an unforgettable event for our kids!
Check out the news coverage below to see the highlights, catch the player interviews, and relive all the excitement! 👇📺

What an amazing morning! Yesterday, our Dixie Dolphins made a big splash for Bike to School Day during our Bike Rodeo! 🚴‍♀️💨

So many of our fantastic students hopped on their bikes, coasted on scooters, or walked to school before the bell rang—all to promote healthy habits, active living, and daily wellness. Seeing our Dolphin family kick off the day moving and energizing their minds and bodies was incredible!

Thank you to all the parents, staff, and volunteers who helped keep our routes safe and fun. Way to lead by example, Dolphins! 💙🐬
