Training showers and storms produced streaks of 2-4 inches of rainfall in Central and SE earlier this week. That rainfall was beneficial to ongoing drought, but it left streaks of wetter ground and caused flooding. Unfortunately, additional heavy rainfall is in the forecast for late Sunday into Monday, and that rainfall could prove excessive. Flash flooding is possible in that time frame, so monitor for updates this weekend.

After warm but pleasant weather on Saturday, storm chances return to the forecast on Sunday into Monday. Some of the storms on Sunday could be severe. Pleasant weather returns again for midweek on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Our next chance for possible severe weather arrives Sunday afternoon and evening, with the SPC having the forecast area under a marginal risk for severe weather. The risk for flooding also increases on Sunday and could continue into Monday.

[4:07 AM] We're continuing to assess the damage from the June 17-18 storms, but we're also looking ahead to Sunday through Monday, when a chance of heavy rain will move into the area. Some flooding will be possible.

It will be breezy and humid Sunday leading to numerous showers and thunderstorms through Monday. Severe storms and heavy rainfall are possible, especially on Sunday. Otherwise, temperatures through the next week will be at or below normal levels.

After a couple of days of drier weather, the risk for excessive rainfall and resulting flash flooding return for late Sunday through Monday night. Forecasts will evolve over the next couple of days leading up to this event, so please check back for updates.

A slow-moving cold front will cause continued storm coverage bringing strong to severe wind gusts, small hail, heavy downpours and a low-end threat of a brief tornado. Severe gusts and flash flooding remain the main risk with the greatest potential along and southeast of the Parkways.

Isolated to scattered flash flooding will be possible if/where storms move repeatedly over the same locations. Stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.
