On behalf of everyone at the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, we extend our warmest congratulations to our very own Coroner, Gary Ginn, on receiving the prestigious Wolfe Award from the Kentucky Coroner’s Association.

This award is one of the highest honors in our field—bestowed upon individuals who exemplify unwavering dedication, professionalism, and compassion in service to their communities. For those of us who have had the privilege to work alongside Gary, this recognition comes as no surprise.

For decades, Gary has served Fayette County with a quiet strength, a tireless work ethic, and an enduring commitment to the families we serve. His leadership has not only shaped our office but has also helped elevate the profession across the Commonwealth through his involvement, mentorship, and advocacy at the state level.

Receiving the Wolfe Award is a testament to Gary’s lifelong commitment to public service and to the countless lives he’s touched along the way. We are proud, honored, and truly grateful to stand with him as colleagues—and as friends.

Kentucky Coroners Requesting Pay Increase Through House Bill 712

In the Fall of 2022, Kentucky Coroners Association formed a Kentucky Coroner's Salary Committee. The purpose of the committee is to address the deficiency of the Kentucky Coroners Salary and introduce statutes to provide a uniform salary for all Kentucky Elected Coroners.

The committee has and is currently active by meeting with many different Kentucky Senators, Representatives, Legislators, County Judge Executives, Magistrates, other KY Association’s Presidents, KACo Board and others. The committee has attended many functions receptions and conferences to promote this process to educate individuals about the different services the Elected Coroner provides to their communities. The committee has testified in our Commonwealth’s Capital before legislators. This process has also informed the previous stated individuals of the wide pay scale that each Elected Coroner is provided by their Fiscal Court, Local Government, Urban County Government and Metro Government. This information has been verbal promoted as well as written reports handed to individuals.

There are 33 KY Coroners making less than $10,000.00 per year before taxes.
There are 5 KY Coroners making less than $5,000.00 per year before taxes.
We must change the insulting pay of our Kentucky Coroners.
