In the notion of the world, a hero blazes a trail of victory and accomplishment alone against overwhelming odds. Yet even in the Hollywood version rarely does the hero win the day all by himself/herself.⁠

The Bible has almost no thought of the solitary, solo world changer. Moses had Joshua, Aaron and Hur; David had Jonathan and his 30 mighty men; Daniel had his fiery furnace cohort; Paul had a Barnabas, Silas and numerous companions; even Jesus had his 12.⁠

For many, many churches the 'strategy' for godly leadership development is simply a hope that the next visitors who walk through the church door are quality Christian people who we can immediately enlist to fill the gaping holes of ministry needs in the church.
