Looking for an app that will get your child's creative juices flowing this summer? Check out the Toontastic App http://www.launchpadtoys.com/

The app is wonderful because it actually gives the user a storyboard and story arc to follow. Students can draw their own characters or use the many that are provided. Students add their own voice, choose music to create a mood, to create custom made animated story. This is one app you will want them to "play with" this summer.

Below you see kindergarten and second graders using the app to publish a story they had written in class.

Fourth Grade students researched the Regions of Kentucky using the Symbaloo bookmarking site www.symbaloo.com/mix/4thgrade125 which can be found at the top right hand corner of the Dixie homepage >students tab.

Students can also find homework help and grade appropriate web based learning sites on the Symbaloo page. Perfect for summer reading and skill building.

Summer Reading is just around the corner!
Reading can be one of the many fun activities children fill their summer time with. Research has shown it is also much more! Children who participate in summer reading programs not only avoid the “summer slide” in learning, but also score higher on reading achievement tests than those who do not participate. The books on this list come highly recommended by kid readers from all over the country. This summer, encourage your child to participate in the summer programs happening either online or at the Fayette County Public library.
