Rockbridge County was established in October 1777 from parts of now neighboring Augusta and Botetourt counties, and the first county elections were held in May 1778. Rockbridge County was named for Natural Bridge, a notable landmark in the southern portion of the county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 601 square miles, of which 600 square miles is land and 1 square mile is water. The land area figures do not include the independent cities of Buena Vista and Lexington.

Today, students at Natural Bridge Elementary traded in their backpacks for detective badges and became Library Detectives! 🔎

Their mission? To investigate the mysterious “crime” of the damaged books and see if they could uncover the clues, identify what happened, and solve the case! 🧐📖

Students put their observation skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities to the test as they worked their way through the evidence.

And before you ask… NO books were harmed during the creation of this lesson! 😂📚

What a fun and creative way to turn library time into an adventure while helping students build skills that go far beyond the library shelves!
