As the 30th Anniversary of our community built “Kids PlaYce” approaches this month we ask you to share your favorite memories of this time 30 years ago when you, your parents, your grandparents, friends, neighbors, colleagues, classmates and all of Lexington and Rockbridge County came together to build this amazing playground. Happy 29th Birthday Kids PlaYce!

We dedicated Kids Playce on April 24, 1994. The unidentified person under the platform represents all of you who worked so hard to make a playground that has survived almost 30 years of serious play…and that’s still serving Lexington’s children and even our grandchildren now! You all shared our vision and commitment to a safe and accessible playground. One that pulled our community together like nothing has since!

That's Susan Dittman and Jody Morgan, before our official T-Shirts were made, during some promotion to raise awareness of the project--literally thousands of people contributed time and money! We were and still are humbled.

Thank you to the city of Lexington for continuing to monitor and take care of this beautiful structure! Please share your memories and any old pictures you may have on this page. Maybe we can gather a year from now at Kids PlaYace and do a rededication of some sort!?

Now we are at 26! After the pandemic it’s time to revitalize!

Kids Playce would like local families to know about Cole's fatal and incurable illness and his need for some help.. His family is from the Glasgow/Buena Vista area. Donations will go to help the family seek alternative treatments and enjoy some adventures in what could be his only chance to do some of the things we take for granted. (He's never been to the zoo!) Here is the link to where you "might" be able to reserve the Kids PlaYce shelter. It is not listed on here but there is a place that you can write it in. Normally, it is a first come first served place but if enough requests are sent, they may add Kids PlaYce to this list.

Special thanks to Jon Ellestad, Dave Woody, and John Smith who encouraged the building and maintenance of the structure all these years.
