Community is at the forefront of every business, company, and organization. At Cancer Services of Davidson County, we express our utmost gratitude and appreciation to our friends at BL Maker's Market in Thomasville, North Carolina.

BL Maker's Market truly embodies what community looks like when people come together to give back. On Saturday, October 3rd, from 9am-2pm, they will be hosting their 6th Annual Pink Day Festival, with every dollar raised going directly to Cancer Services in the hope of providing care and support to our cancer patients.

Folks, THIS IS WHAT A COMMUNITY IS ALL ABOUT! 🩷

While at the festival, you can enjoy local food vendors, permanent jewelry, live music, and shopping, all while supporting such a meaningful cause. BL Maker's Market is truly an inspiration of businesses supporting businesses and, most importantly, people supporting people.

With tomorrow starting the beginning of October, we wish to inform all of our followers and viewers of this momentous occasion. For some, October symbolizes cooler weather, soup season, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but for others, it symbolizes much more than that. The entirety of October spreads awareness of breast cancer, one of the many forms of cancer a woman can sadly develop.

As we go through the month, let us not forget about what this month fully endures. For many, this month is a constant reminder of a disease that encapsulates every essence of their everyday life, or it may also be a sincere moment of celebration and acknowledgment for the journey they endured. Whatever the case may be, we at Cancer Services want to acknowledge that in every corner, dark or light, we are here for you in whatever you may need.

If you or someone you know or love has breast cancer and wants to help ease the uncertainty this trial upholds, feel free to contact our office at (336) 249-7265 to speak to one of our volunteers and Director, Ray Nance Howell, who are willing to help, listen, and comfort you during this time.

Our unsung heroes behind Cancer Services begin with our Board of Directors. Behind every decision, thought, and evaluation is each of our dedicated board members. Each member has Cancer Services at the heart of what they do, which is why they serve and give our patients Hope for Life.

One of the many attributes that defines our board is relentlessness. The relentlessness that shows from every member is the quality behind the meaning of the work they aspire to accomplish. At Cancer Services, we take pride in knowing that our patients are being cared for and treated properly, and with our Board of Directors at the forefront, we have no fear or resistance.

If you see a board member in our office or out in the community, please be sure to thank them for all that they do for Cancer Services. Their passion radiates through our patients, giving them Hope for Life!

⭐ Story of Hope ⭐

Cancer patient Margaret Lemly was first diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in December 2025. Margaret's story is one of hope and passion due to her willingness to live and the positivity that endures her each day. When first told that she had cancer, Margaret was in shock due to never dreaming she would have cancer, let alone it be lung cancer. A few years back, Margaret had a stroke and was then diagnosed with Stage 3a chronic kidney disease, on top of having melanoma on her back. To say that Margaret is a fighter is an understatement.

When first interviewing Margaret, you couldn't tell that she was living with cancer due to the unwavering light she was displaying towards others as she was telling them her own story. Margaret mentioned that every 3 weeks she has cancer, but then afterwards, she moves on and continues her life. She simply doesn't think about living with cancer because that only slows you down. Her sincerest statement is simply described as to just keep going.

Life is too short to dwell on the fact that you've been diagnosed with cancer. You simply have to move forward and fight. You only get one life to live. As Margaret continues to fight and live her life, she enjoys line dancing, hanging out with friends, and encouraging others to keep fighting and live the life you want!
