πŸ•οΈ Memory Monday!

Before the end of the school year, Mrs. Them's class had "smore" much fun on camping day! Students designed their own camping tents, participated in reading centers with camping words, and did flashlight reading inside their "tents" while sharing spooky camping stories! πŸ‘»πŸ”¦

In math, they measured camping items using mini marshmallows and completed a camping money scoot to buy supplies. They wrote about how to make a s'more and then got to eat one together! πŸ«πŸ˜‹ For STEM, students created tents out of supplies and put their building skills to work.

What an amazing day of learning and being together!

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Celebrating America's 250th Birthday at Western Elementary! πŸŽ‰

Before the end of the school year, Mrs. Winner's kindergarten class teamed up with Mrs. Brane's first graders for a special patriotic celebration! Students worked together to solve red, white, and blue equations, got to know their future first-grade buddies, and even got a sneak peek at what next year could look like.

The Kindergarteners topped off the celebration by counting out 250 "candles" for our country! πŸ•―οΈ

What a fun way to learn, connect, and celebrate together! πŸ’œ

πŸ”¬ A rite of passage at Lexington High School!

Biology students completed their rat dissections before school let out for the summer, comparing their own bodies to those of the rat. Surprisingly, rats are very similar to us anatomically and physiologically because they share the same body-plan genes expressed during early embryonic development.

Very cool science… but also very stinky science! πŸ˜‚πŸ€

πŸ–οΈ During the last few days of school, Mrs. Knapp's class at Western brought the beach to school, and it was absolutely epic! 🌊🐚

Students dove into beach math with shells, explored ocean animals while reading Scholastic News in the pool (yes, really! πŸ˜†), and enjoyed ocean stories throughout the day. 🌊 The smiles, the stories, the shells... it was the perfect way to celebrate the end of the school year!

They loved every minute of the day at the beach!

πŸ”Ί Eastern sixth-grade students proved that math can be both challenging AND creative!

Dr. Berry's math classes finished the year strong by learning the Pythagorean theorem, a seventh- and eighth-grade standard! Students used the formula to create right triangles, built Pythagorean spirals, and turned them into awesome artwork. πŸŽ¨πŸ“

Love seeing our students rise to the challenge and have fun while doing it! πŸ’›

πŸ”Š Mrs. Winner's kindergarten class at Western Elementary turned into a sound lab during the last week of school!

Students explored how sound works through hands-on experiments, created their own musical instruments, and even amplified their sense of hearing. πŸŽ΅πŸ‘‚ These young scientists learned by doing, and had a blast while they were at it! πŸ’œ
