Structure fire

On the night of 5/26/26 we responded to a structure 🔥 on Norman Shoaf rd. First arriving units found a kitchen fire. They quickly stretched a line and the fire was quickly controlled. There were no injuries.

Thanks to Wallburg Fire & Rescue and Hasty Fire Department who assisted.

🚒 High Fire Danger: While the burn ban has been lifted, high fire danger is back for Tuesday and Wednesday across most of the state. Hot, dry conditions, with some lighter to moderate winds, will keep fire danger high across the state, along with soil drying.

Humidity levels ramp up Thursday into the weekend along with increasing showers/storm chances at least in hit or miss fashion so after Wednesday the fire danger should decrease again.

Just don’t! Don’t burn, it’s so dry right now and we’re under a burn ban. Things can get out of hand very fast!

🔥 The combination of dry fuels, very warm temperatures, gusty winds, and reduced humidity will lead to an increased risk of wildfires again today.

🍂 Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly.

❌ A statewide burn ban issued by the N.C. Forest Service remains in place.

Last night we trained with some of our surrounding departments on the rural hitch. This process allows us to haul water in the areas too far from fire hydrants.

Low humidity and strong winds are expected, creating high fire danger! The statewide burn ban remains in effect which means:

🏕️ No campfires
🎆 No fireworks
