TO THE NEXT GENERATION - GET INVOLVED!!!

Lexington, Rockbridge County, and the surrounding communities thrive because of its people - individuals who care deeply about our well-being and success. Each one of us possesses unique talents, perspectives, and experiences that can create a powerful force for positive change.

Here are some ways to get involved:

1. Attend Council/Supervisor Meetings: stay informed about the decisions being made and offer your insights during public comment periods. Your presence shows that you care about our community and encourages officials to take your concerns seriously.

2. Join/Attend Boards and Commissions: These also provide opportunities to contribute to the decision-making process. Your involvement can have a direct impact on important issues and policies.

3. Support Local Initiatives: Get involved in grassroots movements and community organizations - you can help bring positive change to our neighborhoods, schools, parks, and businesses.

4. Open Dialogue: Engage in constructive conversations with your community members and local leaders, promotingunderstanding and collaboration.

5. Stay Informed and Vote: Educate yourselves about local issues and elections, ensuring that we are well-informed when casting our votes. By actively participating in the democratic process, you can elect representatives who align with your values and goals for your community.
Your involvement in local government plays a critical and pivotal role in shaping the future, growth, and success of our community!!!

Much obliged,
Chuck Smith

🇺🇸 It's a favorite time on Main Street: the Independence Day Children's Bike Parade!

Children ages 12 and under (along with their accompanying adult) receive free decorations to adorn their vehicles. Additionally, a face painting and 4th tattoo station will be part of the pre-parade festivities.

The parade begins at 11 a.m., with Uncle Sam leading the way down Main Street to the Washington and Lee Parking Corral on Jefferson Street.

Are you looking for a light show without the fireworks this Independence Day weekend? Join park rangers on June 30 at 9 p.m. for an exploration of our night sky at this International Dark Sky Park. Pick out constellations, observe planets and nebula through a telescope, and take in the silhouette of the star-lit Blue Ridge Mountains.
A haywagon with seats for 20 people leaves at the program's start to reach the viewing location for those who do not wish to hike. Pre-registration for the wagon ride is required; only one wagon runs per night and space is limited.
