It is with heavy hearts that the Holly Grove Fire Department extends our deepest condolences to the Durham Fire Department following the tragic line-of-duty death of one of their firefighters earlier this morning.

Today, the fire service across North Carolina mourns the loss of one of our own. This tragedy serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the risks firefighters face every time they answer the call to protect and serve their communities.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the fallen firefighter’s family, friends, fellow firefighters, and the entire Durham Fire Department. We also pray for strength and healing for the two firefighters injured during this incident.

When one firefighter falls, the entire fire service feels the loss. Although we may wear different patches and serve different communities, we are all part of one brotherhood and sisterhood.

From all of us at Holly Grove Fire Department, we stand with our brothers and sisters in Durham during this difficult time.

Rest easy, brother. We have it from here. 🖤❤️🖤

⚠️ Safety should be everyone’s first priority! ⚠️

As temperatures continue to climb this summer, let this serve as an important reminder: never leave a child or animal inside a vehicle that is not running.

Even on a mild day, the inside of a vehicle can become dangerously hot in a matter of minutes. Cracking a window is not enough. A quick stop can quickly turn into a life-threatening situation.

Look before you lock. If you see a child or animal in distress inside a vehicle, call 911 immediately.

A few minutes is never worth a life.

🚫 Burn Ban Reminder 🚫
The North Carolina Forestry Service has issued a burn ban out of an abundance of caution due to ongoing concerns for life and property.
We ask everyone to please follow this order and avoid all outdoor burning. Your cooperation helps protect our community, our first responders, and our natural resources.
Stay safe and thank you for doing your part.

Due to increased wildfire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28 until further notice.

Under North Carolina law, the ban prohibits all open burning in the affected counties, regardless of whether a permit was previously issued. The issuance of any new permits has also been suspended until the ban is lifted. Anyone violating the burn ban faces a $100 fine plus $183 court costs. Any person responsible for setting a fire may be liable for any expenses related to extinguishing the fire.

The burn ban does not apply to fires started within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. The local fire marshal has authority to issue a burn ban within those 100 feet.
