A new book is coming to the Lexington Public Library Genealogy Room!

Davidson County: A Hotbed of Revolutionary Zeal brings together the stories of Davidson County residents who lived during the American Revolution, when Davidson County was still part of Rowan County. The book explores their participation, contributions to the cause, and what happened to them after the Revolution.

Compiled by five members of the Genealogical Society of Davidson County, NC, the book represents years of research by genealogists and historians working to document and verify the lives of local patriots. While the authors note that not every patriot has been identified, those included have been carefully researched and supported by the best available information.

If you’re interested in Davidson County history, genealogy, or the stories of the people who helped shape our community, this sounds like one to add to your reading list.

Pre-orders are now available in the LPL Genealogy Room. The estimated cost is $25–$50.

Bring your curiosity and your collection-loving spirit and see what you can find. Swap a trinket, discover a new favorite, or simply spend some time exploring the little treasures waiting to be found.

Pollinators are an important part of the world around us, and there’s a lot to learn about the role they play in our gardens, farms, and natural spaces.

Join us Thursday, August 13, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. for a screening of the live NC Cooperative Extension webinar, The Great Southeast Pollinator Census Pep Rally.

We’ll learn more about why pollinators matter and how to get ready for the upcoming pollinator census. Whether you already love spending time in the garden or are simply curious about the bees, butterflies, and other pollinators around us, this is a great opportunity to learn something new.
