Millard, known as Skip, visited the Lexington Rescue Mission last week to share his inspiring testimony.
From a young age, Skip faced immense challenges—surviving a devastating house fire, navigating family struggles, and enduring life’s uncertainties. After serving in the Navy, a hit-and-run accident left him with severe injuries, triggering a series of health complications. To cope with the mounting pain—both physical and emotional—he turned to drugs and alcohol, feeling overwhelmed by loss, sickness, and hopelessness.
For years, Skip has turned to the Lexington Rescue Mission for food assistance and support. Through the Mission’s care and compassion, he found not only physical help but also spiritual healing. Even as he faced serious illnesses, multiple surgeries, and the loss of his leg, Skip experienced a renewed connection with God.
Today, Skip is on a path of recovery, showing how faith and community can help overcome even the darkest of times.
✨ As the year comes to a close, we’re filled with gratitude for the incredible moments and milestones we’ve shared in 2024. ✨
From helping individuals find stable housing to building community and offering vital resources, your support has fueled transformation and hope throughout Lexington.
Together, we’ve seen lives changed, barriers broken, and brighter futures created. Every meal served, every conversation shared, and every step forward has been made possible because of a community that cares deeply.
Thank you for being part of the Lexington Rescue Mission story this year. Here’s to even more hope and healing in 2025! 🙌

Re-Entry Program: GoodGiving Challenge
The Good Giving Challenge kicks off tomorrow at 9 a.m. and ends Friday, December 6th at 11:59 p.m. ✨
This year, your support will benefit our Re-Entry and Project Peace programs, empowering formerly incarcerated individuals to rebuild their lives.
In 2023 alone, 157 men and women prepared for life after incarceration, and 68 families received critical support in the aftermath of gun violence from the Lexington Rescue Mission.
With your help, we've seen a 45% drop in our city's homicide rate, far outpacing the national decrease.
With a goal of raising $15,000, we aim to provide case management, training, and resources for a smooth transition back into the community.

Today, we opened the Isaiah House Community Health Center, a joint venture between Isaiah House Treatment Center and Lexington Rescue Mission!
The first-of-its-kind facility offers services including primary care, counseling, parenting classes, intensive outpatient programs, dental services, and an on-site pharmacy to all Kentuckians.
Thanks to Mayor Gorton, Congressman Barr, and so many others for your support of this groundbreaking initiative. We are praying this facility blesses families for generations to come! 🙌
This is Ryan's testimony: "You've got to turn and be surrendered totally to God. Let Him do what he needs to do with you." 🙌
Sharing a meal provides the nourishment many so desperately need as well as the opportunity to start building relationships. 🫶
