💙 Men Can Be Victims Too 💙

When we talk about domestic violence and sexual assault, it’s important to remember that survivors do not have one specific gender, age, or background.

Men can be victims of abuse too.

Many men experience violence, control, manipulation, emotional abuse, sexual assault, and fear- but may stay silent because of stigma, shame, or the belief that they “should be able to handle it.”

No one deserves to be hurt.
No one deserves to feel afraid in their own home.
No one deserves to have their experiences dismissed.

At Sheltering Hands, we believe every survivor deserves to be heard, supported, and treated with dignity. 💙

💜 June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month 💜

Abuse does not have an age limit. Older adults deserve to live with dignity, respect, and safety. Free from fear, harm, and exploitation.

Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, and controlling behaviors. Sometimes the signs are not obvious, but every person deserves to be heard, believed, and supported.

This month, we raise awareness, encourage conversations, and remind our community that protecting our elders is everyone’s responsibility.

💜 Communities That Show Up 💜

After the severe storms last weekend, we were faced with unexpected damage when a tree came down on our building. During a time that could have felt overwhelming, we were reminded of the incredible kindness and support that surrounds us.

We want to give a HUGE thank you to Brent Graves for stepping in and bringing in Double L Tree Service to remove the tree, and trim the rest, completely free of charge.

Your generosity means more than we can put into words. As a nonprofit organization, every act of kindness like this allows us to continue focusing our time and resources where they are needed most, supporting survivors and our communities.

This is what makes our communities so special. 💜 When neighbors help neighbors, when businesses lend a hand, and when people show up with compassion, it creates something truly powerful.

From all of us at Sheltering Hands THANK YOU for helping us when we needed it most. We are beyond grateful. 💜🌳
