The Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass is a nonprofit organization that seeks to reduce the trauma experienced by sexually abused children. The organization coordinates the investigation of child sexual abuse cases in the 17-county Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky. The Children's Advocacy Center employs specially trained forensic interviewers, operates a full medical clinic to conduct

sexual abuse examinations, and offers victim counseling and advocacy support to begin the healing process. All services are provided in a nurturing, friendly and safe environment at no cost to a child's family. CAC also provides education and training to improve community response to child sexual abuse.

It was a beautiful morning in Frankfort at the Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky (PCAK) Child Abuse Prevention Month Kickoff! We were able to hear from PCAK Executive Director Jill Seyfred, Governor Andy Beshear, First Lady Britainy Beshear, Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman, Attorney General Russell Coleman, and others about the many initiatives Kentucky is making to protect children in our state.

Each of the 4,000 pinwheels outside of the Kentucky Capitol represent 12 children born in Kentucky last year. We all can play an important role in keeping these children safe so that they can go on to live the happy and healthy lives that all children deserve.

Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass was able to honor our nominee, Sergeant Paul Hogan, at yesterday's Children's Advocacy Centers of Kentucky - CAC Kentucky Legendary Partners Ceremony, sponsored by Churchill Downs.

Sergeant Hogan exemplifies teamwork and humble dedication through ensuring justice for children, and being an active member within our Multi-Disciplinary Team. In 2023, Sergeant Hogan saw an unusually high number of complex cases, but continued to go above and beyond. He is skilled in talking with children and families, as he builds children up to feel brave and supported. He is more than deserving of this year's Legendary Partners award!

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many, Sergeant Hogan!

Representatives from Gray's Groundbreaking Women stopped by the Center with a generous donation of toys for our waiting rooms, and some books for our therapy program! Every child who completes our therapy program is given a copy of Dr. Seuss' "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" as they place a handprint on our tree. Thank you, Gray, for helping the children we serve as they go on to leave their mark on the world.
