It was a Friday late in January when Meals on Wheels volunteer Cindy Shumate took her two granddaughters with her to deliver Meals on Wheels just outside of Lexington. The girls take pictures they have colored and give them to the clients as they visit each one. One of the stops on their route is an elderly couple, and just four days prior to their arrival the husband came under the care of Hospice. His daughter happened to be present that day when the three of them arrived and thanked both girls for sharing their pictures with her parents! The elderly couple asks about the girls all the time and keep their colorings on their refrigerator year-round. To homebound seniors, children are magical!
Volunteer today by calling 336.474.2646.

How do you get around Lexington — on foot, by bike, behind the wheel, or catching a ride?

Connecting Lexington is the City's multimodal transportation plan, and we want it shaped by the people who use our streets, sidewalks, and trails every day. The plan looks at how we move through the city now and how to make getting around safer, easier, and better connected.

Join us for a community workshop on Tuesday, June 23 at Banks & Miller American Legion Post 255, 1 Arthur Drive to learn more and share your ideas. 5:30PM - 7:00PM
