The Junior League of Lexington provides the opportunity to develop unique skills that align with each member's personal and professional goals. For some, it’s seeking professional growth and honing leadership skills. Others are drawn to the League for the chance to build lasting friendships through volunteering and community service efforts.

For Sarah Seiber, the League has not only been a space for professional development but also a platform to build meaningful relationships with both mentors and friends. As our Training and Development Committee Chair, Sarah shares "one of the most rewarding aspects of my League experience has been conducting research to strengthen our initiatives. Whether evaluating training programs, developing leadership pipelines, or refining operational processes, I have gained deeper insight into applying nonprofit data-driven strategies to enhance community impact."

The balance of professional and personal takeaways is something that Sarah cherishes; she shares that the League "has provided a strong network of inspiring women who support and challenge one another—many of whom have become both mentors and friends. The combination of professional growth and personal connection has made my experience truly fulfilling.”

The Volunteer of the Year Award honors an outstanding Active Member who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, dedication, and impact through their volunteer efforts. This award recognizes a volunteer who goes above and beyond in contributing to our organization’s mission, making a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Christy Jane knows immediately that she has a deep, unwavering passion for caring for others. This genuine spirit of service is evident in her long-standing role as the Horse Show Committee's Exhibitor Hospitality Chair, a position she has held for many years.

Beyond her work with the Horse Show Committee, a commitment that is no small feat in terms of hours and effort, Christy Jane has also volunteered an impressive 152 hours this year alone to current and past funded agencies. Christy Jane’s selfless contributions, not only to the League but also to our community, are a true testament to her character. Her tireless dedication is something she can and should be immensely proud of, and we are fortunate to have her as such an integral part of our organization.

The Susan R. Anderson Award is given to an active or sustaining League Member whose interest, contributions, and promotion of the Bodley-Bullock House are and have been “above what is expected.” Brooke has made outstanding contributions to the Bodley-Bullock House.

As a dedicated Sustaining member, Brooke chaired the successful Centennial Open House and launched the Friends of the BBH Giving Society with the goal of supporting the historic Bodley-Bullock House for years to come. Her passion for historic preservation and tireless efforts, from organizing volunteers to securing donations and funding, have significantly supported the House’s preservation.

Brooke’s leadership and commitment have enriched our community’s appreciation for this historic site, making her a deserving candidate for this prestigious award. We are so lucky to have someone like Brooke in the League who so openly and willingly gives her time, talent and treasure.

The Junior League of Lexington is proud to support the impactful work of the Kentucky Center for Grieving Children and Families with a $2,500 grant. KCGCF is dedicated to providing compassionate, safe spaces where children, youth, and families can navigate their grief and discover healing in their own unique way.

To reach new and diverse communities, KCGCF is partnering with local groups to host innovative, therapeutic events. These activities, such as cardio drumming and even trips to a rage room, offer families a chance to connect, engage, and take that first step toward a supportive journey. With the Junior League of Lexington’s grant, KCGCF will be able to expand these outreach initiatives, creating more pathways for healing and connection in our community. 💙

The decade from 1994 to 2003 was marked by growth, compassion, and community impact for the Junior League of Lexington. Our vision to “Promote Healthy Lives for Women and Children in the Bluegrass” inspired us to host Super Shot Saturday in 1994, ensuring children received essential immunizations with the support of local partners. This commitment to service earned us the "Leaders in Education and the Arts" award in 1995.

In 1996, we launched the Silent Witness Program to help victims of domestic violence and contributed as a founding sponsor to the Hope Center for Women Recovery Program, supporting women’s paths to recovery. In celebration of our 75th anniversary in 1999, we donated $75,000 to God’s Pantry Food Bank to build a nutrition education kitchen.

By the decade's close, our focus had shifted to a broader mission—“Promoting the Quality of Life in the Bluegrass”—driven by insights from our first Neighborhood Meetings. These efforts reflect a decade of dedication to empowering and uplifting our community.
