You can apply for this season of the program even if you've received assistance in other seasons. For LIHEAP Winter Crisis, your household must be in a home heating crisis, meaning that you have a past due or disconnect notice from your utility company or an eviction notice if your utilities are included in your rent.

Due to weather-related impacts, two Prep Academies will be CLOSED on Wednesday:

The Prep Academy at Chrysalis House
The Prep Academy at Terrace Park

The Prep Academy at Nicholas County families will be notified in the morning about whether the facility will be operational.

ALL OTHER direct-managed Prep Academies will OPEN at their usual times, but WILL NOT have bus transportation.

Both the Prep Academy at Chrysalis House and the Prep Academy at Nicholas County will be closed today.
Staff at the centers will support children and families through NTI today.

Estill Co. schools are CLOSED, and our staff will conduct NTI with families.

Harrison Co. Prep Academies are OPEN, and bus transportation will be provided.

Madison Co. Prep Academies are OPEN, and bus transportation will be provided.

Powell Co. Prep Academy is OPEN, but bus transportation WILL NOT BE provided.

Laurel Co. Prep Academy is OPEN.

Garrard Co. schools are on a ONE-HOUR DELAY.

We’re celebrating the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today at Alpha Phi Alpha (Alpha Beta Lambda)’s annual Unity Breakfast.

King’s legacy is that of an educator, spiritual leader, civil rights advocate, and humanitarian, and his work continues to call us to serve our fellow man.

Dr. King’s legacy reminds us that justice isn’t just a dream—it’s a responsibility. Yet, systemic barriers continue to block many from accessing the benefits they deserve, especially marginalized groups. Let’s honor his vision by taking action. Together, we can break down these barriers and create equity for all.
