Attention Bourbon, Lexington-Fayette, Harrison and Nicholas Counties residents!

Our LIHEAP Crisis program is accepting applications from January 9 to March 31, 2024, or until funds are depleted.

If your household’s income is up to and including 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, you could qualify for assistance with home heating emergencies, including Electric, Natural Gas, Propane, Coal, Wood, or Fuel Oil.

Our appointment scheduler is open now and can be accessed here: commaction.itfrontdesk.com or by calling 859-300-6960.

Assistance received during previous LIHEAP components does not affect household’s eligibility.

This year, we have been inspired by stories of resilience, hope, and transformation. However, there is still work to be done, and we need your help to make an even more significant impact in the year ahead and to reach our fundraising goal.

A donation of any size will directly support our agency to help more than 32,000 households get ahead on their utility bills, shop at the food pantry for groceries, access temporary shelter or housing, enroll their children in high-quality early childhood education services, or improve the condition of their home by having it weatherized.

Our work is more critical than ever to help families recover from instability and thrive...

We had our first wintery mix of the season today.
Here’s a great tip from our friend and partner Kentucky American Water about how to protect your pipes in freezing temperatures!

When temperatures stay below freezing: Allow a small trickle of water to run. The cost of the extra water is typically lower than the cost of repairing a broken pipe.

Bonus tip: Collect the dripping water with a bucket to use later to water indoor plants.

Have you felt the cold air coming in through the windows? Do you find yourself constantly turning up the heat to try and keep your house warm?
If your answer is yes, your home may benefit from free Weatherization services.

Weatherization provides upgrades and repairs to homes to protect them from the outside elements. Weatherization measures can save your household money, improve indoor air quality, and enhance your home's durability.

To learn more about Weatherization, click the link below and complete an application. Have questions? Call Mae Smalley at 859-244-2209.

We had a great time at our very first Cuts With Dad event! Fathers and sons came to get their hair cut together at the Prep Academy of South Lexington, and the fathers took some time to talk about fatherhood.

Thanks again to the barbers who volunteered their time, Quentin Turner of Goodfellas Barbershop and Brian Crutchfield of Cut’n Up Barbershop.

On this , we celebrate the generosity of everyone who comes alongside us to help us make a real difference in our community.

As we enter the giving season, you can help us give a hand up to our neighbors. Every dollar makes a difference, and your contribution, no matter the size, plays a vital role in transforming lives and building a stronger community.

We thank you...from the bottom of our hearts.

Thanks to our partner Kentucky Fair Housing Council for hosting this free training to help housing providers better understand mental health disability or illness.
The training is next Friday!

At KFHC, the most common discrimination complaint we receive is based on disability. The majority of those incidents are related to a resident's mental health disability or illness.

To spread awareness on how fair housing can protect those with mental health disabilities, we’ve teamed up Dr. Megan Marks to offer this free virtual seminar to Kentuckians about how we can better respond to residents who are struggling with symptoms of mental illness.

It has been our great pleasure to partner with the City of Lexington, Ky - Government for the last few years to assist in distributing nearly $52 million dollars in rent and utility assistance through the Housing Stabilization program.

With the program ending on November 30, the brief article linked below shares a little about what the Housing Stabilization program has accomplished for Lexington residents.

For the last several years, Community Action Council has been working in coordination with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) to distribute COVID-19-related federal funds for assistance. Since February of 2021, the Council has assisted LFUCG in the distribution of more than $52 mi...
